Man I am so hyped for Ironworks. I *really* want to see two of them attached to each other, one in each mode, to replicate the original micromaster base.

Ironworks looks fantastic. Paint job is great, & all the little details look great.

So happy I was able to get the micromaster Ironworks from someone; he's going to have a prominent place in the chest shovel bucket command center.

The reason why they made him this way. You need 2 to replicate his G1 base.

Am I wrong in thinking the G1 base had 2 different modes, much like this one?
You only need 2 of these if you wanted to show off both modes at the same time, just like the G1 version.

I just thought of something in regards to cliffjumpers partsforming. What if his design was a rush job? We know 1 deluxe was pulled from earthrise wave 1 and moved to siege wave 5 (spinister). So what if they had to rush cliffjumpers design to replace spinister in wave 1. No idea how true it could be, but it’s a reasonable theory

With Soundbarrier, "shield" is now a legitimate alt-mode, so I think that makes this a reverse Duobot!

So what get from this whole line is that Movie Prime didn't mutilate Jetfire is his dying hour, he weaponized him.

So, back on the topic of Cliffjumper's "partsforming" for a moment, I'm pretty sure it was a conscious design decision, and not an example of "poor engineering". They've done plenty of similar designs in the past, and all it would have taken was one extra piece of plastic for a folding armature.

They were probably trying to replicate, as close as possible, the look of Cliffjumper's animated form, with the flat, featureless back as a result of his deformed Penny Racer alt-mode. So that's his intended look, but the trunk piece had to go somewhere, so they set it aside for separate use as a shield, or optional backpack.

It's also very small so a moving armature would not be durable

OK, this is a little biased. Ironworks can do that Weaponizer gimmick too right?

    Right?

How will Greasepit will look like if he\'s next in line?

You're very right, and I wanna apologize to everyone for being a stick in the mud, I'm not making anything better with that attitude.

Your last paragraph is really what I was trying to say, but you've worded it so much better than I could. Thank you.

I easily avoid going down toxic lane. I know what I am. I am a toy collector. I collect transformers toys. So I hold them to their toy standards. And if something pleases me in the sense of g1 nostalgia it is a bonus.
The only thing I hold to a higher standard would be the Masterpiece part of my collection. Its expensive and in my opinion not for kids.
When looking at kids toys like the generations line I would only look at QC as well as play/repetitivity issues.
For instance having the same mold 6 times. Or quality like loose joints. But expecting a toy to be "overly g1" or not having certain features is no bother to me. Since it is a toy.

There isn't much rushed when it comes to transformers though. Molds are expensive. As for fixes and running changes you usually notice them. For example RID Steeljaws backpack. Or Tantrums mouth "Predaking set".
Fixed versions of Motormaster "the hip ratchet".
Other than that rushing is hardly done. Another thing that changes things is for example safety issues and the stress test. It is why most of the designs are already done long ago. And keeling new stuff secret is hard but still works to some extend. "there are leaks".
Cliffjumper imo does not look like a rushed figure. But more like a test. He is maybe a little taller than a legends figure. Well articulated and bunch of gimmicks and attributes. What I am wondering is if we get more figures that are in need of an update. Swerve/gears for example.

SS Jetfire is very similar to Godbomber. Who, alongside Victory Leo, were some of the first Weaponizers.

    F**king awesome. That's what.

This is precisely the approach I take, I feel it's a pretty healthy way to go about this whole thing.

I'd love to see a repaint/new head sculpt for ironworks as a decepticon faction reissue, then we could see them army build #'s for attachment to Trypticon's city mode and the basemodes of overlord and soundwave TR tf's.
