Well, still had no chance to pick up Wave 4 cards or Energon Editions yet, so I can wait with the Wave 5 news. Then again... the end of the year is not that far away...
I’m going to take a shot and say Headmasters will be in wave 5. In one interview at Pax Unplugged Drew Nolosco mentioned a gimmick from past toys (I can’t remember if he said G1 specifically) will be a feature in wave 5. In another interview he stated wave 5 packs will either have 2 characters, or a character and something else (maybe the heads?)
I hope it’s headmasters. I was talking to Matt Smith at GenCon about how to make them work. It’s like combiners but the head is battle card sized and attaches to the top or bottom of the character card
I think it will be. We talked at PAX Unplugged (no interview, my voice was gone) and he was talking to me about the issue that Put vs Play on upgrades was an important distinction because of potential headmasters.
I was listening to the Vector Sigma interview with Drew on the drive home tonight. He mentioned that there will be 4 Wave 5 promo cards, the cards will NOT be reprint versions of characters like the gold foil Red Alert, Flamewar, etc. AND that the 4 characters will not be available in Wave 5 booster packs so if you have the dreaded "Gotta Catch 'Em All" syndrome, you will have to go to your LCS to find them.
I dig it. I think it's a great idea, more stuff like Smashdown and Flamewar to get players to the local game shop to help get more optics on the game and encourage local play.
