Not exactly the newest SS figure, but I finally managed to found and purchased SS-38 Optimus Prime, a Studio Series toy that I always wanted for so long that was reasonably priced for once.

(Anywhere else that I found one available, they're either priced like something over MYR 180 (Around $43) which is too high or went fully scalped by scalpers)

Anyway, I love how this toy looks but for some reason, the leg panels like to disconnects/dislodged out of their position when I try to pose the feet which is kinda annoying.

I hope Wave 9 will get into my country next year. At least, if they'll charge $35 for a Deluxe I don't have to go to Japan or Singapore just to find them.

I have seen you call Studio Series 1:39 before but I have never stopped to ask how you came to that conclusion. Which figure/figures are you using to make that the scale that all others have to match to?

The Studio Series that actually are in scale with each other are 1:39-ish in scale.
Deluxe Bumblebee, Jazz,Sideswipe, Stinger,Barricade Dropkick (car) and Voyager Ironhide.
All these are around the 1:39 scale and a good place to start I figured since the first one we got (when hasbro said they would be in scale).

The Voyagers and Leaders all are in a "each for their self class" so they are all over the place, With the Voyagers ranging between 1:49 and 1:73 in scale,
And the leaders between 1:40 and 1:74.
In a seperate category I would like to mention the Constructicons witch dont even scale with each other, they are between the 1:46 and 1:93 scale. (the ones that came out)

So with the Deluxes being the most consistent in scale with a big margin, I use them as benchmark.

You could expand on this collection as well, TLK Hound, AOE Deluxe Lockdown and Evasion Optimus Prime, DOTM Que/Wheeljack and the Ultimate Optimus Prime, ROTF/HFTD Ratchet and Mixmaster, 2007 (leader) Brawl and Megatron
the Powerbattlers Drift,Crosshairs, Bumblebee (TLK) all hang around the 1:39 scale as well.

And if you would include the 3P Bots, WJ Blackout and the OS Voyager TLK Optimus are around that scale to.

If you like scale as much as I do and want the most accurate bots (Studio Series does excell in that area) the 1:39 scale is the best bet with some exceptions. (Ratchet, Lockdown and all Optimus Primes with the exception of the SS38)

I hope this explains it a little.

This helped a lot! Thank you!

I give you a lot of credit for figuring out all of the different figure scales and being so meticulous in what figures fit in your collection.

I agree with the logic you have in your signature that the vehicle scale is the most realistic way to look at the toys because they are real vehicles that have real sizes.

The problem for me is I care too much about robot scale and playing around too much with the vehicle sizes starts to mess up the robot heights. Which proves your point that the robots were tweaked to fit individual scenes but I have in my head the sizes they should be and so far, studio series has been hitting that out of the park so I'm happy. :thumb

I didn't even realize the 20% Sale. I already ordered Hot Rod, Bumblebee and the Arcee Triplets.

    I can imagine ;-)
The fun thing about collecting toys like these is that everyone can and should do it in their own way.
I want the bots to do both and therefore I do a LOT of customizing.

I agree with you, Robotscale is quite important!
But like you mentionned, they change a lot in scale from scene to scene.
Leaving us only with the sugested scales we see in renders like the (amazing) ones from Red Goblin.

most of the figures don't differ that much in size from their vehicles trough, and I feel some of the bots in the SS got "cheated" with plastic savings and/or partcounts.
I calculated all bots in this chart, all in 1:39 scale and acurate in vehicle and botmode.
    Transformers 1-39 schaal.jpg

But like you said, we should each collect in a fashion we feel content with.
For me the fun is having movievehicles that transform into movieaccurate bots. in both scales.. Especially if I can paint them up and make them look even more accurate ;-)

There are tabs on the backs of the ankles you can cut off that make this problem almost go away. More details in the feedback forum thread about this figure.

Happy birthday! Here’s to many more building edged photo-shoots!

All this talk about Megatron is making me nostalgic...

Happy birthday @Shmoptimus Prime!! I love your photos! I visited NYC over the summer and I constantly wondered what Transformers figures would look like in that type of area. Luckily, you take photos that show me just what that's like.
