Heh... I don’t think even the most stubborn defender need to read between the lines in that one.
Well, maybe the blind and deliberate defender... but there will always be those that say the sky is red because RJ or KK say.

@DrTraveler As I was saying theother day, TLJ screwed Solo’s box office up. :p

Except this boogeymen cabal Johnson and ardent defenders always backpedal to is nowhere near the majority who voice their hatred of TLJ, nor is it “crystal clear” that’s who he’s talking about. He can try and roll back his blatant, sweeping insults towards the very people who’re supposed to support his movie, but it doesn’t make him look any less like a petulant tool who can’t handle criticism and thus has to lash out like the very people he calls out.

You can’t say shit and then be like “oh but I really meant just THESE people” because we all know he didn’t. He’s petty and s childish, as are most “professionals” who take to social media these days.

I’m not surprised, and They’re welcome to their opinion. Disney is also probably ok with all this as it distances TRoS from TLJ and that’s a good thing for the box office given how divisive it was for the fans.

TLJ probably wasn’t a fun film to make. I seem to recall reading stuff about how ESB was also not a fun film to make. Actors like to act versus other characters, and movies where everyone is off on their own little quest just are not fun.

I’d imagine that Daisy’s shoot schedule sucked hard. She spends a lot of time with just Mark Hamill and the actor for Chewie, then some cgi time with Adam and Andy, then one scene with the whole group. For John, he gets a bit with Oscar but they he’s off on a solo mission with Kelly before they all get back together. And Oscar has a few random scenes with a variety of folks, but not a lot of group scenes with the rest of the mains.

That’s gotta suck. In comparison, for all the problems TFA has Daisy, John, Harrison and Chewie get a lot of that movie together. And from what I’ve heard Harrison Ford is a pretty awesome guy to hang out with.

BTW, a lot of classic movies suck to make. There are horror stories about a lot of the great ones.

It’s as if RJ, Lucasfilm, etc. all went to Ghostbusters 2016 School of Public Relations.

Because that all worked out well for Sony, Feig, and Company.

Saw another shot of Leia. Really still wondering how they’re gonna do this. Surely there’s not a “Leia passes away peacefully” deleted scene they found, right?

For me the biggest disappointment with the sequels is that established characters were just callously eliminated. Why can't anyone ride off into the sunset any more? I get that Harrison Ford wanted out of the movies, but could he at least get a heroic ending? Maybe like Randy Quaid in Independence Day? He takes out Starkiller base with the Millennium Falcon, and the last dialogue is Leia whispering "I love you" over the communicator and then he says "I know". Silence. Instead he gets killed by a guy that became a total weakling once his helmet was removed.

I think all the villains in the sequels have been paper tigers...Kylo, Phasma, Snoke…none of them pose a serious threat, which makes the new heroes pale imitations of the previous generation of heroes. Han Solo in my view was the most important guy in the Star Wars universe. He shouldn't go out like that.

The whole thing reminds me of New Coke too. But I think it hits even closer on a favorite franchise here on the boards...Transformers! Watching TFA seriously reminded me of seeing the Transformers Movie in the theaters. I was so excited to see my favorites on the big screen, and about 20 minutes into the movie they are all dead. What the heck! None of these new characters earned their status as heroes!

Last year when the Transformers Movie was back in theaters, I had my 4 boys watch all the episodes leading up to the movie over a two-month span. They gobbled up each episode and were always asking to watch the next. They were dumbfounded after watching the movie.

    "Dad, is Optimus really dead?"

    "Yup."

    "He can't die!"

What was even funnier (in a sardonic way) was that we then went home and tried to pick up watching the cartoon. When we got to "Dark Awakening", they were so excited that Optimus was back...but then he sends the mausoleum into a star, completely obliterating the bodies and circuit boards of all the Autobots on board. I imagine this was Hasbro saying "Kids, quit writing us letters! THEY"RE ALL DEAD! NO ONE IS COMING BACK! Buy our new toys!"

It's now over a year later, and we still haven't finished watching the rest of the G1 cartoon. The movie killed my boys interest. They don't want to see their favorites melted down anymore. Long story short--new characters and flavors can be awesome (like Orange Vanilla Coke). But don't toss the previous heroes before they have convincingly passed the torch. I just want to get this over with. ;-)

It'd be a very bold assumption Hackbrams having planned anything but a RoTJ rehash after he opened with ANH rehash.

It's all JJ was ever capable of doing.

When he's not busy piling mystery boxes, that's it.

Disliking TLJ or not, the Sequels were lost from the start.

Not going to look for it, but one of the shills claims that Abrams originally wanted to have Kylo brainwashed by Snoke.

And that would radically alter the quality... How?

So he can snap out of it and the things end the same way anyway?

Rey was going to be the savior from the beginning.

Thanks! Managed to open it on my PC, seems Reddit is oddly one if the few sites not blocked at work.
Boy if this story is true (and it seems to be) then this will one gigantic dumb ending. And seems same as the last Jedi trailer, all the
teasing that Rey turns evil and, y'know, actually becomes interesting, is yet another scene cut out of context same as the Kylo hand holding scene from last Jedi.
Glad I was sceptical about that scene. Would not be surprised if they shot it mostly for the trailer just to drum up interest...

Btw so seems from the leaks that apart from Force projecting from another planet to Force ghosts using lightning, now everyone can
Force cure wounds and Force raise dead
At this point the Force is like a D&D clerical spell list. Will we also have Force summon animals II to conjure a pack of nexu? Force spiritual weapon to create an instant lightsaber if you misplaced yours? :D

And how will they retcon this in anyway? It has been pretty obvious in all the previous material, pre and post Disney that he has been single. And does not serm to be the kind of guy who keeps a mistress...

1.5 k bucks for this scene's lightsaber, tho! Buy now!

You could buy a sharpened good quality functional pimped-up sword for this cash, but whatevs.

That's actually lifted from the old EU.
Except manipulating life took a sh*t load of training because obviously it's harder than zapping or choking. Also, no resurrections. Because, y'know, the Force can flow only in LIVING things. Abrams gonna Abrams, I suppose...

Why not skip to the two starscrem returns episodes and then return of prime and rebirth with prime back?

If they want to see prime again show them the return of prime!

I didn't say that it would alter the quality. I am guessing that it would have been used to handwave him killing Han. That's all.

...did you post in the wrong thread?

Only someone as incompetent at storytelling as is JJ Hackbrams could ever consider this being a good idea and a valid cop out for a character. Thus, a rumor of this kind would be believable.

I was on twitter when that entire FIASCO with Johnson was going down. He was attacking EVERYONE that didn't like TLJ. It wasn't just 'the trolls' (another phrase that's lost all meaning) he was going after.

Later he backtracked and said he was only going after the misogynists (ANOTHER ONE) and trolls, but it was plainly obvious he was going after anyone who didn't like his shit movie.

It seems like she knows the Sith ability to stop death that Darth Plagueis knew. I wonder how she learned that. Not from a Jedi, I suppose.
