He’s worth every penny. He’s stunning and If this was TT it’d be 5 bills easy.

Hydra IMO is not one of FT's better outings. The knee ratchets are weak and feel flimsy which is odd for FT, their ratchets are usually great. The ankles barely have any tilt to them. The connections to the knee and leg are not very strong and also feel kind of flimsy. Everything from the knees down needed another design pass. My copy also had a loose left bicep swivel. He looks good on the shelf, but he's not as fun or as functional as other past FT releases.

Definitely worth every penny. I've had no problems with my copy. Grab one while they are still available.

This guy is great QC wise, and the finish on him is beautiful. I have Hanzo from DX9, he is solid and looks good, but not Hydra good. As for FT being fragile, its actually the first time I hear that, I mean, they have had a few figures with some minor QCs, but never a deal breaker in my case. Hydra is still available, but when it sells out, price tends to go up, just remember that.

I cant decide if I wanna pull the trigger on buying Hydra. Especially after the reports of the tiny knee pegs breaking.
So I want to ask the people who own it already; and TRANSFORM IT... more than just the one time; would you recommend this figure over the GCreations Fuuma or Hanzo as a good transformable, and easily pose-able Sixshot that is at least fairly G1 accurate?

I have to ask, as I do transform my MP figures, to change up the display every few months. So being able to pull off multiple good poses, and also not self destruct during transformations over time is my main targets for my MP buying.

So any and all feedback is welcomed!

Both figures have delicate parts, Fuuma's chest wings are prone to break if handled carelessly. The treads also have the tendency to split apart over time (my 3 copies are fine though), other than that, he is quite posable, maybe the best in that category, and he is easy to transform too. Very happy with him.

EDIT: I don't own Hydra, but I know that his shoulders are easy to break and his knees are weak. After some transformations some panels in his legs become wobbly too... He has a good pain job though.

Been meaning to follow up: BBTS came through big time and mailed me a replacement even though it was 40 days past the sale date. Pretty cool imo.

I'd highly recommend Hydra over the competition. Yep, I've had one for several months now. So far I've had no issues. And if any issue arises, I can always reach out to FansToys directly at any time for their superb customer service.
Grab one while you still can.

I frequently transform my Hydra, and have had hardly any issues with him. You do need to be careful handling him (particularly at the start, as you get used to how he transforms, and which bits need a little more force), but I find that's true of most MP transformers. Some parts and panels are tighter than others - my only gripe, but again, one which applies to pretty much every other HasTak and 3rd party MP figure I've ever had. Overall, the look and quality is exceptional IMHO. Personal preferences aside, my only major knock against Hydra's design is I think they took an overly-complicated route to achieving the transformation of the wolf-mode back legs (which can make the transformation to the other modes a bit complicated too), but in general the design is terrific. (PS Wouldn't have minded if the wolf-mode head was less visible through the tank-mode cockpit, but at least he has one; see below).

[Disclaimer: I own neither Fuuma, nor Hanzo] For G1-accuracy, Hydra wins hands-down; although to be fair, Fuuma isn't trying to be G1 (it's IDW-themed), while Hanzo seems to be more of a stylised take on G1.

I have read that Fuuma's legs flop a bit in gun-mode... but TBH, most of the other things I'd say against him are really more personal preferences that simply come down to him not being G1 - which is the whole point with him. I'm not an IDW-fanboy, so Fuuma was never really for me (and I'm content with my MMC Terminus Hexatron, anyway). Maybe Fuuma owners can give you a better critique of the figure?

As for Hanzo, I've made no secret of how little I like the look of him. Too many aspects of his design just put me off: the front-car-wheels-on-bot-mode-legs (that ruin the look of every other mode and do nothing to improve the car-mode); the boxy, oversized windshields (ditto); the clown-shoe bot-mode feet; the gappy rear section of the car-mode; the lack of tank cockpit; the lack of gun trigger; the over-wide bot-mode chest; among others. I know plenty of people love Hanzo - and he does appear to have the better overall posability in robot and wolf modes (not that there's anything wrong with Hydra's) - but when I decided to get a Masterpiece Sixshot, I wanted a G1-accurate figure (in ALL modes); with good design, look, posability and quality. Oh, and a dead-ringer for the guy in my avatar (;) )!

Hydra is the only one out there that does all of that, and for this reason I cannot recommend him enough!

Honestly hydra is just one of FT’s ‘OK’ offerings. It is better than most of their movie bots but a notch below their better ones like phoenix, spoiler, roadking, etc. aside from the common knee issue (which mine fortunately is OK at) there are also issues with ankle range, how moving the arms also tend to get the wheel panel loose, the usual fiddly FT transformations, etc. It is, however, probably the best overall MP option for the character at the moment, although my gut tells me that this might be a character Takara might tackle in the future, although when that is is anyone’s guess. I had Fuuma for a brief while and it is better than that.

I'm thinking MMC will eventually do an Ocular Max Sixshot. Until then, Hydra's my guy...hard to beat the look of this figure's bot mode, but easy to beat the build.

I am starting to respect MMC’s bots more and more. Seems like they have a good design team and uses good materials. If their six shot is like their saltus I don’t see why they can’t take the throne in the competition. I like what FT did but somehow from a visceral standpoint I just think it is not ‘great.’

I love my Fuuma for the most part. That said, this tempted me a lot, but the total apparent lack of clearance of the treads in tank mode would bother me to no end and ruin the figure for me because, essentially one mode is just not functional if you were to imagine it was a real cybertronian tank that intended to roll. Rolling vehicle modes gota roll or treaded vehicles gota clear the ground for me.
Fuuma also has clearance issues but he does have a rolling wheel at the crotch and you can tilt the arms to use the car mode wheels to clear the ground. Isn't perfect but it's better than not clearing the ground at all.
I know, possibly a very particular qualm but one that is a dealbreaker for me nevertheless.

I also like to transform my figures every so often and I haven't had any problems with hydra. He wasn't a very important character for me so I wasn't super interested in getting him, but I'm glad I did! He is a lot of fun to flip through his modes and I had a lot more fun with him than I thought. Granted, some of his modes look a bit iffy, but the car/plane/robot and flying lion mode look good.
The knees on mine are a bit loose but he still holds a pose and so far there are no signs of breaking, I haven't had any other problems. I couldn't compare him to the other six shots out there because I only have him but I'm pretty confident that if you pick him up, you won't be disappointed!

Well since you have transformed it, what parts would you advise be lubed to prevent breakage, an parts to tighten?

Also, anything specific I should look out for when transforming this bot that hasn't been mentioned on the boards yet?
