Hey all, it's been a long time since I've posted here but Siege finally got me motivated to make some customs again. I really like a lot of the series, but didn't want to replace the CHUG figures I've already picked up...so instead I'm using the series as a starting point for updates to many of the toys I had as a kid but are missing from my current collection (meaning a lot of Gobots, Convertors, and other oddities).

My first completed custom was Major Mo, who didn't need a whole lot of work as his original toy looked a bit like a mini Sideswipe anyway. The new head was made by combining parts from Siege Sideswipe and G1 Trailbreaker, the arms were dyed, and the legs, rear window, and lower torso were painted. I also modified his feet so that he wouldn't lean back with his legs turned the wrong way.

I had to look him up, he's one of the more obscure Gobots. Boy, you really nailed it.The head is awesome! Give him the hood detail and you've got almost a spot on rendition! Great job, I may have to steal this idea.

    Thanks, guys!

I was debating back & forth on the hood stripe, I wasn't sure it would work over the vents. Eh, I can always give it a shot and remove it if it doesn't work.

I think the best part of this is that I couldn't even tell what had changed beyond the head at first glance. I had to go back to the description to figure out that the arms and legs were different, they blend in so well. Great jorb!

So I bought a Siege Sideswipe specifically for this custom, and I gotta know, how did you mod the feet? I have an idea, but want to head it from the OP. Pleeeaase?

The biggest change was adding the little standoff blocks to the bottom of the original shins (outlined in yellow). This holds the original feet down so that the legs are straighter. I also carved off the little square stops on the backs of his feet so that they could tilt down easier. Friction is more than enough to hold them - since the back half of the car is taking most of the weight now, the original feet are basically heel spurs.
