To be fair, he explained his reasoning. He clearly states that the first one is the best.

Sorry, I should’ve been a little more constructive with my post.

I was really curious as to why the cover is the way it is, now I know. Seemed like an odd choice for a book spanning all generations.

I may be in the minority here, but I’m not a huge fan of the red and purple gradient either. I think just a simple, plain, matte black cover with maybe some faction logos would’ve been better suited.

I don't see how. It hardly explains why include movie art at all on the cover... it merely says that, of the movies, that's one that's less objectionable than others.

Yeah, if you listen to the podcast it is clear that his first love is G1 box art, then character profiles from the various series.

The cover image has to be a publisher decision.

I found I quite interesting that the book was commissioned a good while before Jim was invited to be the author.

Yes I find it hard to believe that Jim Sorenson would be like that. From what I've known from his past works..he's more from the ol skool G1 crowd and very knowledgeable about it too.

Looking for things to read in quarantine I bought this book and going through it I was really excited to see this artwork appear. I have had this piece hanging in my house for around a decade. This is the original line art for the unproduced Spacewarp figure that I bought directly from Dan Khanna at a convention (I think at NJCC). The head was swapped out for the TFCC Astrontrain boxart but to my knowledge it was never published before with the original head. It was a curiosity that I really enjoy having and it was so cool to see the completed color art finally after looking at it for so many years.

The giant double-page Platinum Trypticon art is itself worth the cost of the book.

Sorry if someone's already answered these, but I have two questions:
    • Are the limited edition bonus prints photos that aren't already inside the book?
    • Do you think the limited edition is worth that much more?
    • Should I buy the book now or will there be an update soon given the new shows and movies coming out?

Try also asking Amazon support of the difference if our fellows can't give you a satisfying answer.
