There will never be another Orson Welles.... I would have said Rutger Hauer, but I'm afraid he's also gone...

Galactus does actually talk to his heralds so I don't get why he wouldn't need a voice of his own just because you're making a Galactus comparison. They're pretty much already very similar characters. Taking away his voice would actually make him LESS like Galactus.

ANYWAY... Tim Curry... Not his usual speaking voice but the voice he used when he played a demon in the 1985 movie Legend.

I like the idea of Unicron in IDW that he's so massive and powerful his voice could probably shake the physical plane, so he has guys like Shockwave and his heralds do all the hyping for him. I really do like Orson Welles on a acting level because it's not easy to work with the idea that you're a giant robot that eats other characters that were just vehicles to be toys. Acting wise his voice is too modulated to be natural and it was already done with every other character. When the year Prime was a thing, VA's nowadays can throw their voices out and become as big and powerful as Mr. Welle's Unicron. The only person in my mind can do an awesome Unicron and still have his own spin is John Noble. Dude is a theater actor and just loves hamming it up for the camera. If they ever do another Unicron appearance I want John to play him again.

Fun fact... While actors who start in Theater usually do well on film or in front of a microphone the same is not true in the other direction.

The problem is that actors who are use to talking to a microphone just out of frame or talking directly into a microphone right in front of them have no freaking clue how to project their voice out to a packed theater full of people. And yeah there are body mics but theaters don't make a lot of money, they don't have enough for the entire cast. Generally only leads in musicals get a body mic. Ensemble roles have to be able to project. If it's a straight play we don't even bother with the mics so you have to be able to project. If you can't project no one past maybe the first three rows of seats closest to the stage will even be able to hear what's going on.

I worked a show with TV actors and we had that issue were pretty much every show they were told they needed to project but as it turned out they had no idea what that even meant because non of them have ever acted on stage before.

Yes, but it's hard to say whether he could pull the role off. At his age, it's hard for him to command the same vocal range and presence he had in his prime. When he reprised his role as Mufasa for The Lion King this summer, they had to re-use some of his recordings from the original film for a number of his more powerful lines, and he couldn't handle the strain of delivering them for extended periods.

But then again, he doesn't need to. Orson Welles died before the movie even came out. They had to put his voice through a synthesizer so that they could use his lines.

If not, though, who voiced him for Armada?

    Jeff Goldblum.

The entire "Megatron to Galvatron" scene should be an homage of the Grandmaster from Thor: Ragnarok.

A few years ago I would have said Sir Christopher Lee, but sadly he has passed from our mortal plane.

That'd be a joke, and completely not in Unicron's character. Just no.

You can hear in Rouge One as well his Darth Vader in not the same as it was 40 years ago.

As for Unicron's new voice Keith David is a good pick Ron Perlman might work. Clancy Brown or Kevin Michael Richardson. And just to throw out a wild card Samuel L. Jackson, "For a time I considered sparing the wretched little planet Cybertron, but now, I have had it with these mother fuck Transformers on this mother fucking planet!"

Goldblum would make a great Quintesson. Maybe as one of the prosecutors.
