Yep, that’s what I was thinking. Also, the pharaoh-esque lines that go horizontally down the sides of his face should start a little farther down.

it feels to me as if they weren’t looking at the toon when designing the face. Which isn’t “wrong”; just seems odd to me since the rest of the bot mode is so toon-centric (which is my preference).

Cool Idea, Personally, I would like a toy deco more but I like Crasher as well.

DX9 was waaaaaaayyyyy ahead of you. Check out "DX9 Cocomone." I've had an MP Crasher in my display for several years... and the fact that it doesn't look like G1 mirage is an additional selling point, it looks like its own character.

Except Crasher turned into a Porsche 956, not an F1 Ligier

The original Gobots version of Crasher turned into a Porsche 956. But her first Transformers incarnation was Fracture from the original live action movie line. From the filecard bio with the figure: "Dedicated to Megatron and the Decepticon cause, Decepticon Fracture is a dangerous enemy. She is totally fearless, and probably a little bit crazy, as she dives directly into any battle, regardless of the odds. Although she carries a powerful negative energy blaster, she prefers to use the seismic energy dischargers on her feet to smash the surrounding earth to pieces. Any battlefield on which she walks shudders with the force of her steps."

So between the bio and the coloring, Fracture was obviously Crasher. Anyways, that figure was a redeco of Classics Mirage. Heh, when people saw DX9 make a Crasher deco from their Mirage, did they just think it was random? These companies don't do anything randomly! Its a reference only a handful of people on this board would get, but a reference nonetheless.

HOW did I not see this?!

I THOUGHT I was happy with Sphinx, but a Mirage from TE?? Yeah, I'm gonna have to watch this...

I like the way it looks so far. Very interesting they chose not to use the spoiler (or WTH it's called) as feet.

I'm one of those handful who noticed the reference. LOL
I knew that DX9 had their version. I loved the Gobots Crasher, and think the recolor in the TF universe is appropriate, calls back to the original, but since the coloring is a bit different, it adds to the idea of the Transformers Crasher being her own character within G1. Like an alternative universe where Gobots were always Cybertronians and not Gobotronians.

Ugh, I was very excited for this until I saw the alt mode. Not for me.

Hopefully I can pick up a V2 (fixed front axle) Sphinx for a reasonable price once people swap him out of their collections for the TE.
One of the few 3rd party releases I've been kicking myself over missing for years as I didn't like the successive re-decos near as much as the original.

i wish DX9 had retooled to at least change the front end. Ideally someone will do a dedicated crasher mold and you could redeco that anyway you want because it'd be a nice mold. the car mode is really nice and it'd work as just a generic autobot or vehicon too.

I love that the altmode looks like the toon model, which is what I've always wanted since I was a kid.
I'm gonna get a bit philosophical here...

But for me, the idea that the MP line and any new figure which has already had a 3rd party figure produced, needs to have more of that toy or realistic look in altmode for me, is only 50/50. Yes it should look like a realistic vehicle, however there are tons of companies Already doing that.
If I remember correctly, us Geewunners from the 80s who grew up with it, already had the Realistic version as kids..
Although, the original Mirage has that stumpy front end people have complained about.

As a kid of the 80s, I wanted the toon, and I wanted it to be as magically Masterpiece in design as possible to mimic what we all were seeing on TV.
So for me, personally, as a G1 kid from the 80s..
This is what I have wanted all along.
If you disagree, that's fine with me. I know there are tons of more realistic altmode bots out there. Loads of chrome, etc..
But let this be what it is meant to be. A faithful, and finally cartoon (almost 100% accurate) figure that fulfills my fondest childhood wish, to own a representation of the character in 3D plastic format. After almost 38 years of wishing and waiting, and not remembering how it felt to see such a figure that captures that childlike imagination and demand I once felt, is just Priceless to me. I mean, Transformer Element is so popular now, because they know they get it, they understand what this niche of the Fandom wants, and they deliver it in unabashed brilliance. I am a fan of Iron Star and his designs. He knows and almost psychically pulls the feels from my heart and mind, and forms it in plastic. It's what the trend has become, even TT recognizes it.

Trends aside, it is the idea that Transformer Element is doing what many of us like me have always wanted. We needed this. So while I see people criticize the altmode as not being realistic, and I am fine with that, I know there are tons of alternatives out there that already give that. This is TE.. This is what us toon-centric fans have always wanted. Let us have this corner of the MP 3rd party circuit. Let's enjoy what some of us always wanted. I know that everyone has their own preference for these bots, but I have to say, while I respect everyone's own opinions on figures like this. I have to disagree politely, this is what I have always wanted and I like the cartoony altmode. I love TE01. I am happy this is out here for us. Otherwise we would only have that toylike look, which to be honest. I had that as a child. I always wanted this, and finally we are getting it.

Finally, we G1 old timers have a chance to get a sleek and almost magically simplistic bot and altmode with that cartoony feel, and yet they pull it off with such style and extremely genius engineering it's anything but simple in execution. Its brilliance incarnate.

Looked at the Shapeways link......figured I try to model and 3D printing one of my own. Unfortunately I don’t have Sphinx anymore so I use Sunstreaker as my stand in. Now I need TE to release this Mirage :)

I used translucent orange, but the material isn’t a vibrant orange as I hoped once printed. Printed as (4) separate pieces to ensure a clean print and then glued together. Not bad for a first print.
    The dimensions are 3”x3.75”x7.5”

This looks great. Any plans on getting it to be more glowing? Would be great if TE would add such a box. I mean what is Mirage without his box?
