Just because it's autographed, doesn't make the story true. I have a Mattel trap signed by Ernie Hudson, that doesn't make it a screen used prop. Here's an image of Ecto-1A rotting on the backlot. After a fan-driven campaign to restore the vehicle (or shortly before, I forget that timeline), the wreck was stored in a cargo container away from human eyes. It was revisited as a donor vehicle to finish the restoration of the Ecto-1 when some of the harder to find and more expensive components couldn't be sourced (or were just WAY out of the budget). Then, it went back to it's container tomb for over a decade... and was dragged out and completely cannibalized for this movie.

Now, the restored Ecto-1 sits outside of Ghost Corps for all to see along with it's cousin of the same name from the 2016 Answer the Call movie (well, one of the 3 used for that film).

While I'm not calling the woman you spoke to a liar, but there are a LOT of replicas out there and a few of those are owned by some top tier con men signed by the actual actors (I know a dude with an Ecto Magnum that's signed by Aykroyd) or are forgeries. Case in point, my toy trap was signed by Ernie Hudson at NYCC a few years back. He was seated in front of an Ecto-1A tribute car... the base vehicle was the wrong year. Guy running it swore up and down it was the legit movie car to my face and even had signage claiming to be the film vehicle. I confronted him about it, he got VERY defensive, and even Mr. Hudson said to the guy, and I quote "Guy, I was IN the movie. This isn't the same car." I should also mention he had a BTTF 2 DeLorean that was... ALL WRONG and a 1989 replica Batmobile... both of which were "screen used". It was a bad joke.

Okay, I've watched the trailer about 15 times along with the German trailer 5 times (there's extra footage at the end of that one) and I am EXCITED. I have a LOT of questions and I can't wait to see this and have them answered :D

I'm assuming Paul Rudd will be the comic relief in this movie (when is he not). Wish they would've shown just a little bit of that in this trailer. Felt too dark and serious.

The kids in Extreme Ghostbusters used even more juiced-up versions of the equipment...

Ok folks, let's...not have this thread start down the rabbit hole of talking about the previous film. Love it or hate it, let's leave the discussion about that movie in that thread. This thread is about the new Ghostbusters film, not about any of the politics surrounding the last one.

I still find it strange how hard Ghostbusters is pushed to be some kind of big franchise. Like, I enjoy the original movie and all but hardly think it’s some groundbreaking landmark.

That said, this looks appealing. More of an 80s charm than a Ghostbusters one specifically but that’s fine with me. And McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard look pretty believable as Spengler’s grandkids.

Looks like a lot of fun. I'm not really a Ghostbusters fan per se, but I've seen the original film and think it's really enjoyable. It will probably grow on me the more I watch it. This one looks great. Looking forward to seeing it.

Hopefully it's not just the kids. Could be a good movie if that's the case, but I want to see people with training/knowledge running the show. Not kids who happened to find their equipment. Or at the least someone to show them how to actually use the stuff properly.

It seems like from the trailer it's going to be Paul Rudd.

Lookin' good. A nice little tease to whet the appetite.

So, they're Spengler's grandkids, living on a farm that he owned and stashed/hid some equipment. Shandor Mining (cheers to bellpeppers) is a nod to Ivo Shandor, unseen agitator from GB1.

I'm thinking Egon went hunting for some kind of natural crossrift, a fount or spring through which the paranormal enters this dimension.

After I posted, I started thinking it would be kind of fitting for it to be the mom. Being more closely related, I figured she might have been shown how to use it at some point.

The original cast have been spotted on the set, but no idea if it's for flashbacks or actual scenes in the present.

I guess Janine's persistence finally paid off.

Just give me a good story with good characters. I not fully sold on it being with teens and kids. But if they're believable and able to act their parts, I'll take it.

So far that trailer teases a plausible story that's believable.

I'm going to leave it at this for now.

I think as the story goes she never really knew her father, in this case Egon. If this is true, then she wouldn't be any closer to knowing the equipment than Rudd.

If that's the case, then yeah, I definitely agree that's the direction they'd go for. Though I kind of took the "pick through the rubble of his life" line as an indication that they had a relationship that was strained and/or she didn't think much of what he did.

Okay, looks good but from clues in the trailer, are they implying Dan Ackroyd's character passed away? I mean, a family farm left by grandfather....

They're not implying anything - they literally show us the dead grandfather is Egon Spengler. Then they drive it home further my making his granddaughter look like a mini-me version of him.

    So subtle, Reitman. ;)

Looks interesting. This is what happens when the right people take over the franchise.
