I was at Suntec TRU today and the same thing happened. I told the staff to reconfirm the price, and ask if the discount didnt apply to the new wave. He checked the Xmas catalogue and entered the SKU number and naturally rang up the discounted price.

Dont think so. SGCC now focus more on comics. Dont think any of the local vendors are there like the early years' STGCC. I know Tamashii Nations has a booth there and have SHF for sale. I am going down on Sunday to meet Jim Mahfood and hopefully buy some of his stuff n get some books signed.

 

Not really well there is this small Booth selling orginal Japanese g1ginrai, rodimus and megatron at around 150 to 200

Unfortunately apart from that this year's con was very underwhelming, TF-wise. Virtually ZERO toy vendors to be seen. Things haven't been the same since Simply Toys closed shop.

Alright now that sgcc is over, I actually have a secret I wanna share

You see after I saw the megatron silhouette at the yolopark Booth, I went to double confirm with the staff at the counter and he say yes that's megatron

Then I was like

"oh cool well you see I am a decepticon fan", I say that while showing the megatron t-shirt I was wearing I brought from hla

Then he asked "well have I seen the design" I replied that I didn't (since it's not officially shown except for that micro changer toy giving a really rough and hard idea that it looks g1 ish)


But I was in for a surprise, he pull out his phone and show me a fully revealed art of that covered up silhouette megatron

I did tried to ask if I can take a picture of it but of course he didn't allow but I gotta say that was really good, the face has the panel linedetail of what a normal cybertronian face shown in the bee movie (like the one cliffjumper, ratchet, brawn) , the artwork does not feature the fusion cannon like the silhouettes and have the iconic yetsshorter gun barrel backpack from g1, it's elbow I rmb was really red and the lower body was mostly black on the crouch and under the knee area just like in g1


Tho he did tell me this design may get reuse in the 2021 movie


Which mean we may have a possible confirmation of the next transformers movie will be in 2021


I didn't plan on revealing this till the convention end as I didn't wanna have people who read my comment and immediately go and ask for the vendor on the design by force or on purpose, also I hope the design he shows me and the 2021 movie information will be true

Well blow me down!

If the confirmation of a film in 2021 then that's kinda AWESOME and a bummer. Good news is that to goes along with the release of Haslab Unicron, REBOOT CONFIRMED!!!, the Transformers film won't feel like they'll be a slog since it's bi-annual and not annually, and gives Industrial Light and Magic the time to polish any shortcomings of the last film's cgi. Bad news? Means we have to wait another year for a movie to come out, we don't know who's directing or writing for the film other than that Bay is never coming back after The Last Knight, and we're still pondering if we're going to be stuck in the 80's or do a time skip.

 

I got his G1 Op print and also a Star Wars print. Someone actually asked him to sign an old Marvel Transformers comic. He told the person it wasnt his art and if he still wanted him to sign. The guy said ok and he happily obliged.

 

The focus has changed and one local shop said that it was more work for them to be at the con and the payback wasnt great. Gaming and Comics are the main draw now.

Aside, i managed to meet Jim Mahfood and had a great time visiting the artist alley. Only regret was not buying some original art.

 

I think the new movie may be part of a new Hasbro shared cinematic universe, with M.A.S.K, Transformers, GI Joe and Power Rangers: Hasbro Cinematic Universe

 

OMG. Currently in Japan. Are the Mixmasters still available? I think I'll only be able to pick them up on Saturday earliest.
