Nah I didn’t miss his point, his point was Disney turned SW into “GOT lite” by having Leia’s name sullied by political rivals for being Vader’s daughter. (In supplemental books) This ruined the fairytale approach SW uses to “good and evil” by adding gray areas. Which is stupid because Lucas already did this in the PT by....

#1 Including politics. The fact that Jedi don’t involve themselves in politics shows very simply this dynamic already existed because if it didn’t then why would the Jedi have a rule preventing Jedi involvement with Senators.

Obi-Wan: Be mindful of your thoughts, Anakin, they betray you. You've made a commitment to the Jedi Order... a commitment not easily broken... and don't forget she's a politician. They're not to be trusted

#2 Anakin suffers no consequences for murder. We aren’t supposed to know he is the “bad guy” yet.

#3 Just all of the Clone Wars cartoon, the whole fucking thing.

The fact this comes from someone who completely lacks anything that could be mistaken for objectivity makes it that much easier to dismiss.

And yet people complained there weren’t enough in the ST.

Also do people really still think his tiny crumbling ship was gonna stop the mini Death Star? Like people were all tore up that he didn’t get to sacrifice himself and that Rose apparently doomed them by stopping him. But like literally it would’ve been a miracle if the thing even made it to the cannon without melting. I realize it worked in Independence Day but that guy’s plane wasn’t already melting from a sizable distance away from the beam like Finn’s was.

I've been watching every movie to count down to the premiere of episode 9. I just watched episode 7 yesterday, but it feels like I only watched episode 1 yesterday.

if it goes right into the gun itself and destroys what powers it why wouldn't it destroy that thing?it may have been falling apart but it still had speed and weight. if rose didn't hit him i'm pretty sure he would have wrecked it.

    Exclusive cross promotion with Fortnite.

    Edit
For what it's worth, according to Google trends Rise of Skywalker doesn't even have half of The Mandalorian's current interest, and even less compared to TLJ two weeks from its release back in 2017.

I don’t know a single person who was tore up that Finn didn’t sacrifice himself.
    And also:

He was right there. So yeah- not only would he have made it... but he did.

I don’t think that most people would have cared about it except for the stupid comment she gives him after the fact.

Wow, he was even closer than I remembered. Also, even the debris from his ship would have stopped that laser. There’s no way that ship would have been completely vaporized when it’s mostly intact a few hundred feet before impact. Even a small pebble in the barrel of a gun that’s firing will make it explode.

exactly...it was only a few yards from the gun. at that speed even if the heat killed him, which probably wouldn't have considering how fast he was going and how he bounced back from it all, the speeder itself was in enough piece it would have obliterated that weapon.

ultimately though i can see the FO just dropping another one down to bust the door up....but he would have stopped the gun.

    Exactly.
The issue wasn’t “dang it! Finn didn’t die”.
The issue was “WTH stupid thing did Rose just do?”

    He was. Right. There.

He would have for sure damaged it.

another thing is i think the issue is that was a good end point for his character's story. seriously he did everything his character could do including killing his main nemesis. what's left for him to really do now? it was a good logical end for his character.

now he'll just flounder directionless in the TROS

That tiny black dot in the beam is Finn’s ship. How do you figure it’s going to obliterate the Battering Ram? BE43A817-C196-47D5-B037-D599C672817D.jpeg

    Right here....

The Ram is bigger than a new AT-AT.

for the same reason geese getting sucked into jet engines fucks those up or any number of small objects getting lodged into big energy based combustible anything can mess it up. wasn't the whole point of the deploying the speeders to destroy that gun? so putting anything explosive down the barrel would kill it? that was THE WHOLE POINT OF THAT SCENE.

seriously is it just a knee jerk reaction for you to come to the rescue for everything having to do with these movies?

Umm.. Fin’s B-Wing reject wasn’t a speck compared to the Weapon of Doom:
    BA5A298A-C8F4-46C4-B25F-71AEAE68F58E.png

And I don’t recall using the word ‘obliterate’ either.
I used the word ‘damage’; possibly enough to disable it.

This is the last view of Finn’s ship before Rose crashed into him

    80995B83-541D-4DE9-A438-2D09B3E36CD0.png

This is the initial view after impact

    F96C6F7C-D688-49E7-AF1F-432C7CCEFACA.png

This is what happens when something as minor as mud gets in the barrel of a gun. Even if it doesn’t completely destroy it, something is getting broken and it would at least be temporarily disabled.

That reminds me, Mythbusters tested this one as well. It did manage to damage the gun barrel they were using. Obviously, it didn’t end well for the artificial hand they put in the gun either. I’d post a clip of that too, but I can’t find one in English
