Damm that looks so good! Did you use the same colors that @Chris C137 used? And one question btw, Did you say you used "future" in the joints? I don't know if that's a time-traveler-joke or it is indeed a product. I also want to tight some joints (specially the doors, they keep failing cause of the weight) and maybe that can help me.

 

No I only use gundam markers. And future just means floor polish. It’s a very common tool for tightening joints. Yes, actual floor polish, for floors.

 

do you add finishing on top of the paint on those knees? I haven't transformed mine since I painted them but I guess it will probably chip off when I do.

 

I don't tend to protect my paint jobs because I don't mind if they scratch a little. Battle damage is an integral part of realistic transformers design, IMO.

 

I just bought this fella at a local collectible toy store, Quake Collectibles West for the Chicago folks. Open but still in box, complete, $60.

The only problem is that he might have to be a Christmas present. Wish me luck!

EDIT: didn't have to wait! Just transformed him, and wow is he amazing! I'm ordering a paint marker to add some orange details. One of the door mirrors is loose and falls off, so I'm gluing them on. Just two complaints: the tires are so skinny, very un-Lambo-like, but necessary I suppose. And the lack of front/back ankle tilts.

I don't need the blast effect, the gun magazine, or the whatserface figure, anybody want them?

"Future" is a type of acrylic floor polish that works great for tightening joints. There should be a thread about it in the Radicons forum...

I was bored at work playing on my phone and I did a thing. I really like the color scheme of shattered glass hot rod from IDW. I'm by no means professional at least so it's probably really sloppy to those who are really good at this but you get the idea. What do y'all think?

 

Good to know, but that’s the reason I prefer ratchets on my toys.

 

There's some parts that ratchets won't help, like the door rods, for example.

 

True, I like ratchets mainly on the limbs and heavy parts.

 

I think he needs to be much more subtly purple. That's like a neon purple almost. Think Shockwave from dotm.

Yeah I get that on bigger figures for sure, but sometimes ratchets make them clickety messes when there are too many. Literally I'll be messing around with a figure sometimes and my fiancee will look at me like "what's with the weird noises?" haha

See... I thought the same thing when I first started but much like Autobot hot rod has bright orange on him and likes to do things with flair I figured why would his counterpart be any different so G 2 bright purple &teal. Also took a little inspiration from the G2 stunticons

 

The sounds of the ratchets are extra loud on Wei Jiangs Blackout, and they're almost everywhere on him, which is a good thing on big figures, but the clicky sounds are indeed very annoying.
On smaller figures they're really not necesarry.

 

Casually grabbed this guy on Aliexpress sale for 69$. Surprisingly simple yet solid and fun. I've never had any experience with DX9 or UT before but I definitely dig this one.

 

Anyone else have issues with the left side door being floppy in robot mode?

 

It was perfect at first but after a month or two it became floppy. Future fixed it right up though and I haven't had an issue since.

 

Still hoping DX9 releases this mold with a different head and colour scheme (blue would be cool; blue Lambos are so pretty). I'm just not a fan of TLK Hot Rod's head or colours, but the sculpt and engineering here look fantastic.
