This figure is looking awesome! I love that it comes with another rock base like Sqweeks. Speaking of Sqweeks, is that a clear version I see?

I don't know Chinese at all, so I have no idea if they're saying anything interesting, but I've noticed that Chinese reviewers tend to talk a LOT over a static view of the figure before they actually do anything with it. Almost every one of them does this. I definitely would have liked to know how he moves.

Robots can have any proportions though. They're robots. That's my take on it at least. I'm a sucker for these things. Never had much interest when I was younger ironically.

 

There's some creepy ass Hellraiser shit going on in that transformation! Red paint makes it even look more gory  

 

Well yeah but chibifying robots takes away any coolness for the sake of being cute. Reboot movieverse Bumblebee pulls off the "cute robot" thing well while still looking like a respectable character. Chibi Transformers and SD Gundams almost feel like an insult to the genuine heart and drama put into their mythos for the sake of using their characters as cute, trendy, marketable fads, IMO. Maybe I just take Transformers too seriously...

Whatever, clearly this isn't for me, so instead of complaining that I don't like it, I'll just leave it alone.

 

I mean I get it. That’s how I used to think. Back when I was into gundam I never gave SD stuff a second look, but for some reason I like it with these transformers. Maybe it’s because of the films giving me awesome designs that I can’t take seriously as characters a lot of the time due to the bad storytelling. But something about an angry little Megatron makes me smile. Ever since G1 the decepticons sort of struggled to be taken seriously with their goofy schemes and cackling and general ineptitude. I hope they do a few more! It’s actually more fun to me when it’s decepticons cause they try so hard to be cool.

 

I would love to see them do ironhide like this.

That's the whole irony for me, though. I don't see SD as "cute." I see it like a disfigurement that makes them like hellish plague vectors. This guy looks like a total Gremlin Badass that wants to skin you alive, and whatever he doesn't eat he will wear....that's it! He reminds me of an impish version of the demon from Jeepers Creepers. OK--now I HAVE to get this  .

 

Gremlins can be cute! Haha I love that people like this for different weird reasons. I hope this line continues!

 

Oh, sure, it's all cute and fuzzy up until 12:01am on a particularly humid night and one of 'em gets the munchies.

This will make a great desk companion.

 

I’m also excited for the ice cream twins they revealed. They’re good candidates for the goofy chibi treatment.

This is the first time I've deliberately double-dipped on any figure as a pre-order, much less a 3P, but he's just so awesomely cute and demonic and the altmode is a baby masterpiece as well, I just couldn't resist.

Having done so, I'm going to have to set funds aside for Dragoon until they have a second batch, because that bird is not cheap but I wants it, too.
