yeah I just hope he doesn’t end up as an exclusive, forcing people to hunt them down like Siege Ratchet. I have grown quite accustomed (lazy?) to just ordering the entire line off of Amazon and saving on gas and time.

Yeah, I think it’s a reasonable hope. Like you say, let’s just hope it’s not a high ticket rip off.

If Hastak counts space pirates in with mercenaries, then I'd think that the Beast Wars 2 Seacons would count. They'll probably get Takara Selects figures soon too, considering the Selects G1 Seacon pack-in comic features them as well.

Hastak probably counts Wreckers in which case we have 2 and a half Wrecker combiners.

I never saw the Wreckers really in it for the money. Then again, I haven't really read any Wreckers comics(I know, I know, I'll go read some now)

Yeah. I just mean Hasbro probably uses them interchangeably. Dirty dozen/A-Team cross faction group. Toxitron being a Wrecker probably makes him a candidate to be a pirate or a merc. Same for Devcon, Lockdown, etc.

As I saw in TakaraTomy's Earthrise May releases, Ironworks can still Weaponize as an armor. I see no for Fast Track to be excluded. Maybe a pre-mold before we get other Mods.

Yes. Once we see them in Earthrise wave 2 onwards. I see no problems of them being neglected unless Blaster comes out as a mini compo.

I hadn’t thought about this in awhile but if my Commander/Titan Teletraan-1 idea came to fruition, I think it’d be cool to have a couple of tape decks or tape insertion points.

It could run with the idea of Powermaster partners doubling as cassettes.

I can definitely see that as a WFC3 thing if WFC3 is like PotP was as a “fusion of prior trilogy gimmicks”. They could justify all the major cassettes and all the PM partners if they all work in Soundwave/Blaster/Teletraan and have a raising 5mm post to attach to engines.

Likewise, maybe Autobot X could be a weaponizer BAF split between several small Voyagers or something.

The Warden approach seems to be to layer on gimmicks and then mash them up together.

Are 'Freelance Peacekeeping Agents' considered mercenaries, or is that a frightful faux pas?

I mean, I think the mercs are likely to start as guns for hire working for Hot Rod to find the Ark based on the cardgame and then splinter.

To some extent, it feels kinda that the mercs are doubling as an explanation for how some of the non-Ark/Nemesis characters made it to earth given the treatment of Octane (and Astrotrain?) as a merc. I’m kind of expecting the mercenary faction here to dissolve once the Ark or Allspark are located.

So, like...a freelance peacekeeping agent hired by Hot Rod...could work?

Silliness and joking aside, I actually am a bit torn on Death's Head in speculation. Obviously, he's Marvel character and now off limits but there are ways round this. It's a less complex analogue, but as Straxis is to 'Darkmount', so could Death's Head be to...Deid Heid (assuming he's Scottish). Hand of heart, I think it's unlikely.

personally i think he'd be more likely as a marvel legends figure, hopefully hasbro realizes the crossover appeal of such a figure sooner rather than later.

I've got this one, from the Marvel Infinite series, already.

I'm not sure if there's enough 'buzz' round the character these days for Marvel to take another swing. But really, I'd want one that's designed to scale well with my TF's (and is in green). I can't see Marvel doing that. I'll hold on to a glimmer of hope that this 'mercs' faction in an 'ini' for the guy.

Back in July. It's been and gone, and doesn't appear to have made much of an impression, from what I can tell.

I know, I say stuff outta the blue, but do you think a Commander Class Grimlock could be made in WFC3 or even Earthrise?

I'm sceptical. Dinobots are potentially a lot more 'problematic' to the Hasbro folk than a lot of other candidates. WfC seems keen to give us the full complement of any given team. Dinobots take up a lot of 'real estate' due to their size and a lot of people have put forward the suggestion that on the shelves, five of these guys look kinda homogeneous, at least in terms of deco. Which is thought to be off putting to the parent buying their kids presents or whathaveyou. While this is speculation from people with no involvement with Hasbro, they're still fairly compelling arguments. Not insoluble, but definitely something of a barrier.
