I want to pay $250 for Fanstoys Forager FT-14 but every time one shows up on eBay it goes close to $300.

 

Well, I'm glad to see these kinda things are commonplace in the hobby (or not really-just helps me justify my bad spending habits lol). I have a feeling I'm going to be doing this a lot, since I just started collecting and there were sooo many cool things that I missed over the years. Just been reading the idw comic, and I don't think I'll be rich enough to afford all the by-gone mmc stuff anytime soon.

Ooh, I recently got out of the saltwater hobby because I moved. I feel ya, I have so much crap in my garage back home and no energy to sell it off. I moved onto carnivorous plants now though, which is much less expensive (so far)

I've paid the late tax for 1 figure only. Or 3 depending on how you look at it, I paid $330 for fans toys spotter, but that's my fault for wanting to be a Reflector completist. Then I got another set missing the box and energon cubes for $125. That makes up for it .

 

Full price for FT Stomp from Europe. Had to pay full shipping costs of over $50.

 

For the most part I’ve been pretty disciplined but I have gone crazy ($200+) for the following:

Fansproject steelcore paid $230.00usd for it
I did like him a lot, but eventually sold him for 80.00

I.. can’t recall anything. Not for Transformers anyway. I may have paid a bit over market price for a video game LE or something back in the day tho.

I paid (roughly) $100 for the Mech Ideas brothers Apex & Geminus (aka Topspin and Twin Twist) a few years back. Don't regret it and didn't even both the with Titans Return versions when released, as A&G are still nice bots even though they are a bit dated now. Wreck and rule!

I recently paid $550 for the Maketoys Lightning and Skycrow duo. I had Meteor and it looked like I couldn’t complete my Seeker set without ponying up.

Yeah, I already tried them. It says it's in stock, but you can't add it to the cart, so I emailed them and they said they were out of stock

 

I paid $675 for G1 Fortress Maximus complete in C7 box and I don't regret it. The box alone brings all the boys to the yard and I say, "Damn right it's better than yours"

 

Since I wasn’t into collecting TFs at the time they came out, just about any CHMS seeker I’ve gotten over the last 3 or so years has been over whatever they retailed for when they were on its KO site that I guess got shut down (vaguely remember someone giving the story in one of these threads).

Recall some auctions ending for them a few of weeks ago, and some of those prices were way over my max bid; but fortunately some of those selling for high prices were variants that I already had.

 

For 3rd party, probably buying a used sovereign for $220...from taobao (I knew it was used).

Counterbalanced by getting Tesla for $90 during a black friday several years ago, and Lupus for $80 because...no one except for a few people wanted him a few months after he came out.

For G1...I'll just say at one point I had 3 boxed Black Zaraks and each of them had some kind of issue or another..which only happened once I tried the transformation.

 

Alot of the stuff people have mentioned; Maketoys Seekers/ Iron Factory I have piled in my basement not really doing much. But I like them just enough to not sell or get rid of them.

 

I regret buying every single Takara season two Seeker at full price when I see they've been on clearance for three years now.

 

Same here, he was the only one I've done it for,and worth it to me (same price!). Wasn't sure where my masterpiece theme was going so ummed and ahhed too long when he was reissued.
