I think it's to add clearance for folding the spider head down to avoid paint scraping.

I like how the shoulder hinges can be used to give her a kind of coy-like allure to her poses.

Those hinges actually don't get used for transformation, so I think they're entirely for posability.

Just pointing out that even though other figures have upward shoulder hinges, hers can be better used for posing, because of her femininity.

Opened mine the other day. She looks great and awesome articulation. Though I worry about those hips when using thigh swivel, kinda wish they used diecast there. Definitely not the worst MP though, but for the price she is super underwhelming.

    The worst MP?

Hardly. Those who have been around for a long time know better.

Have you tried gripping the upper thigh when engaging that swivel? Takes tension off the hips when you work with that tight thigh joint

Of course, but I shouldn't have to do that in the first place. It's a flat out bad design and TT should have fixed it, but I am not surprised they didn't.

The joint will loosen up though. Mine was super stiff at first but it's juuust right now. No need to hold the hips when using the swivel anymore.

Just play with her heaps and have fun :D

Is it bad design though? Because if they did what you're asking, she would have easily been $150. Upping the manufacturing costs across the board for an issue that could easily be avoided if the consumer just uses a different finger placement when interacting with it.

Totally agreed. The smaller a figure is, the more careful you need to be with it. It’s not like Blackarachnia was gonna have ratchets. Also, even figures WITH ratchets need optimal hand placememt for joints and swivels.

At the end of the day, these are still collectible figures and people need to handle them as such. Plus, I’d rather have a tight swivel than a loose one, especially on legs!

+1. I would much rather have joints that are a little too tight and require some precision, than a little too loose. Wouldnt want either extreme, but at least when it's too tight, it will loosen up over time. Too loose, and you're screwed for the lifetime of the figure.

Yeah I'd rather have them be a little too tight than too loose as well. However there are remedies for both.

Pledge for loose joints and silicone spray (or RC Shock oil) for tight joints.

Megs has been on his own on the MP Predacon shelf until now. Putting Blackarachnia with him truly accentuates just how small she is, and it's amazing. If she'd come later in the line with another Pred or two having been released, you wouldn't have gotten that sheer size differential.

Whether it's a happy accident or something planned by TT to do the biggest then smallest Pred, we'll never know. But it's a wonderful thing.

Well since they’ve also done the biggest Maximal maybe a similar pattern will follow.
