I own TE01 V2. But I gotta say, I'm going to have to get this. TE is a good company. And I sure hope the quality of this is on par with TE01. That sculpt is a dead on ringer for the animated model. I love how slim and speak he looks. Fits with TT as well. Great job!!

As for the head - it maybe a matter of tolerances in the mold for transformation. If it is wider it may not slot/move through a portion of the frame. It may be the way it is for a reason. If they remold the head it may mean a redesign and they may not be keen on the idea. - just an opinion. It seems to have become a common practice for figures to come with multiple heads/face plates. This at least right now seems to be expected. We will find out as we get closer to release.

I dearly hope they do something about the panel gaps on the outside of his calves. With the attention to detail and engineering of the rest of the mold it looks sloppy and unprofessional. I have all of the OM Sphinx molds and they each have a different spot in my collection and represent a specific theme in my displays. I will be a V1 adopter as I want to see what they have coming in future releases. If there is a V2, V3.... Then I may grab them if they bring enough justification to the table to warrant the purchase.

 

those tiny little gaps will hardly be noticeable when its in colour and i don't think it looks unprofessional   , unlike sphinx where the lower legs are a bit of a mess

 

The overall head is fine I think. It’s the mush-mouth face. It’s an old-school FansToys face. We need a new era FansToys face. Ah, remember the bad old days when FansToys figures where amazing from the neck down but you had to put a paper bag over their head .
TE can totally do better than this.

I get both of you but I think I lean more towards what Snaku was saying. I've got some that I can look at them and go "Yes, this could be done a lot better" and get the replacement. MP Astrotrain, MP Bumblebee and some others. For the most part though, it seems a lot of the latest and greatest...are small improvements. Somewhere you have to draw a line and go "It's good enough" and stick with what you have and be happy with it. At least, that's my opinion.

This Digibash says it all. I don't see what's wrong with the head. I think a lot of you who own Sphinx or some of the others are just comparing with what you already have. I think it looks great. looks like Mirage to me. Maybe the chin is too long, or the head needs to be squished down a bit, but overall, I think it looks amazing!! This will be my mirage. I will most likely try to build out the rest of my G1 MP's with Transform Element, if they keep up the quality and great toon accurate designs.

 

His face/head is mostly fine - it’s just the lack of his facial “lines” that seem to be missing. I’m sure if the designer went back and edited the head with those details, it would look fine.

 

yea, the lines can definitely be added. This is afterall the first sculpt. I recall TE01 came a long way from the sculpt to the final, and it looked amazing, especially once the extra head came out.

 

now please add a proper neck this go around. it's weird to me to see a head sit on top of a neck-less body

 

I think that's more a symptom of the angle that some of the pics are taken at. There is a neck and it even looks like the tab it's attached to can be moved up or down to allow for head tilt etc:

2nd - Fanstoys
3rd - Transform Element
These are the companies that I would rely on to make the best cast.

 

They should release a clear version of the figure with a clear plastic box and glow in the dark outlines around the edges of the box to set him in, like in the show.. like this..

Well, now we know the name TE03 Phantom.
Any idea what Taobao's preorder balance price will be? I don't recall Taobao having TE01 for any lower than ShowZ.

 

I'm looking forward to TE's Mirage. I feel it will a step up in quality over MMC's version.
Seeing how the official MP Tracks was my first Takara MP disappointment (the KO is better), I hope TE makes their own Tracks.
