Final Fantasy. I’ve beaten: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, IX and XVPE. I can’t bring myself to beat VII. If you count spin offs I’ve beaten Adventure, Legend I and II, and Tactics.

I’ve got VII and Dimensions on my phone, and XII for my switch. So I’ll get around to those too.

Probably Assassin’s Creed. I’ve played every game in the series except Chronicles, so that’s 12 games if you also include Liberation.

The next would probably be Need For Speed since I played Hot Pursuit 2, Underground 1 and 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, Undercover, the Most Wanted remake, and Rivals.

Madden and NCAA Football would probably be next although I never bought them annually and haven’t bought one since NCAA 14. I also didn’t play franchise mode to technically beat the game until the last few I bought

As a kid probably most Mario titles then in my Teens most Fighters like all the different versions of Street Fighter and MK. Adult hood it was the RE series,Halo,Gears and as generic as it sounds the COD franchise... Lol feel ashamed saying COD as it's all been the same shit over and over again. Damn you Activision.!! Lol

I could have sworn you said a while back that you beat MM11. Weird.
Me, I'm really struggling with it. It's just so g@& d@#& hard.

    Hmmm...
For FF, I've beaten I (via Dawn of Souls on GBA), IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XII, and XIII. Plus X-2 and Mystic Quest.

What's stopping you from completing FFVII? Lack of motivation? Same thing happened to me with VIII and IX. Had to force myself to beat them.

Yes. As you can see from my list I’m an old school FF fan and VII is the break point where the series pivots. I get about 30 minutes in and stop caring to continue.

IX was ok as it’s a throw back. I’m looking forward to XII as it’s in the Ivalice trilogy and I’ve played the other games in that sequence. And XVPE was surprisingly fun. I doubt I’d actually play the full version of XV.

I’ll push myself to finish VII over the Christmas season. On the phone it has cheats you can turn on to minimize the grind completely. I’ll just do that and push through.

edit: you should try V. It’s one of the more popular ones these days thanks to the four job fiesta. I really enjoyed what the game does with the job system and the story.

I did play FFV as part of Final Fantasy Anthology on PS1. I ended up quitting because I had trouble getting the hang of the job system. That was 20 years ago, I really do need to give it another try.

Yeah, it starts slow and is a bit weird. But once you get the hang of the job system it's as broken as Tactics is. You can turn your people into one man armies. It's so overpowered that the bonus bosses have special ai routines for if they realize you're using some of the most overpowered combos just to keep up.

The job system is also so balanced you can beat the game with any combination of 4 jobs. The Four Job Fiesta is a charity event where people randomly roll up jobs. Once that job is available, it is all you can use for that character. Over the years it has become clear any four jobs in combination can work.

Also, it's one of the earliest "sequel" games in the numbered series. FFIII and FFV are loose sequels with lots of hints FFIII happens in the distant past of FFV. Plus, the story is funny. It's pretty lighthearted compared to FFIV and FFVI.

Technically Pokemon with about fifteen or sixteen. But I don't know if I should really count that since in some cases (particularly the early games) it includes two/three versions for a generation, which I don't know that I'd consider distinct enough for the purposes of this topic. More like a second/third playthrough than a whole other game.

After that, probably the Legend of Zelda. I'm sure I've beaten at least ten of them, probably eleven or more. The Tales series is right behind at nine.

For clarity, I'm counting spin-offs as separate from main series (e.g. Pokemon Snap or Link's Crossbow Training aren't counted).

Come to think about it, probably "Street Fighter". Even if you only count each game only once despite how many character ending there are, all those versions and spin-offs I played over the years probably add up in my case.

I'd say The Legend of Zelda.
Like 17 or so of them, excluding any ports, 3D, HD, or whatever.

Ok, quiz time for me. I honestly don’t know if I can even think of 17 Zelda games.

    LoZ (NES)
    Adventure of Link (NES)
    Link’s Awakening (GB)
    Oracle of Seasons (GBC)
    Oracle of Ages (GBC)
A Link to the Past (SNES)
    Ocarina of Time (N64)
    Majora’s Mask (N64)
    Twilight Princess (GC)
    Spirit Tracks (DS?)
Breath of the Wild (Wii U/Switch)
    Four Swords Adventure (GC)
    Minish Cap (DS?)

    Ummmmm...
    There’s those 3 bastard 3DO games, but I don’t think they count...
I suck. I can’t think of any more. Looking it up now. I know I must have missed an easy one.

    Edit: WIND WAKER.
Good lord, how did I miss that.
Also missed Skyward Sword, A Link Between Worlds, Tri Force Heroes, and Phantom Hourglass.

Now see I liked the job system but thought the story was a huge letdown for a game that was nestled between what I feel are two of the greatest video game stories ever told.

That’s the argument for it. II, IV, and VI are all epic stories. And from VII on there will be an air of self importance to the series.

V is not that. It has a lot of levity. It’s self aware. Yeah it has its moments of drama but it’s a pretty fun romp that doesn’t take itself seriously.

I played through I-VI again last summer and V was a much needed breath of fresh air.
