The back definitely isn't the best, but I give things like that a pass because it's CHUG. And looking at this...

    https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/takara-earthrise-er-03-wheeljack4-jpg.28468531/

It really is, to me, like a much simpler, much less complex (and therefore containing more shortcomings) version of this:

    https://news.tfw2005.com/wp-content...Masterpiece-Wheeljack-MP20-050_1412113144.jpg

Complete with both having (though the CHUG, obviously, is more glaring) wide backs and wrist guard car kibble.

Which to me is amazing. But yeah he could be longer, the back could be smaller, the "wings" could be longer, and the head sculpt could be more detailed. But for CHUG, I'm shockingly impressed and happy personally. Especially given that I have to compare it to a literal MP to feel even a twinge of disappointment lol.

    Random thoughts...

Wheeljack looks awful in those pics, too busy and glaring \'off\' sections. Probably be fine in hand though! There\'s always the alt mode if not...

Wonder if we\'ll get a Con version of Soundbarrier to go with Scorponok, for instance. And how many I\'ll need throughout the trilogy! Ordered 2 so far that I can use as shields if I decide not to persist with the micromaster base set-up (When I get Omega I think I want him as a bot).

Ironworks I\'ve ordered three of; Bot, base, weaponiser. Might get one more down the line if I wind up doing the bases. Which I probably will now that I\'ve typed that!

    By Primus I need Metroplex...

I just put some weapons and the chest as a shield and put the rest of the parts on the back to make bots still look good

Well, I only have Sixgun and Cog, and I really like them.

Sixgun turns into guns. That's easy enough.

Cog I adore because I can use him to give figures extra arms. That's just a damn blast. His other parts are justifiable enough (shield, booster, guns, etc.) though the platform shoes are... meh.

I'm looking forward to playing around with Ironworks, but to be honest, his actual modes look so much fun.

    Yes.

I was very excited for Ironworks before but once I saw that fantastic shot of him armoring up Wheeljack I knew I had to have him. It looks so increadible!

They're meant to be combined with other modulators to build bigger bases but as they've only announced one they have to show it with wheeljack lol.

Hey I guess to each their own. I care more about continuity than playability. I display my figures in groups based on Sunbow seasons and other factions. No need for battle armor or weird play gimmicks here. Im even kinda meh on the blast effects. I get it, kids like to "play" with toys. But when youre talking 35 year old characters theres going to be a lot of adults who just display them and ignore the play features.

Now the base modes are actually pretty cool because you got micromasters to display them with which makes more sense. But the armor gimmick just seems so forced. But knowing me, ill probally fall in love with the addition of new characters (or actually giving old accessories a robot mode ala Brunt) and ill group them in the team and hardly use the base modes. Just how I roll.

Hoist apparently has a ramp that folds out of the back of his vehicle mode that's compatible with the modulator system. Prime's trailer also has one.

Boy oh boy, Wheeljack looks blocky. I still like him, but oh how I wish for a push away from the Sunbow aesthetic :(

It’s cool that Ironworks has the armor capabilities that the Weaponizers have. I’m not particularly in love with the figure but excited to see more modulators down the line.

I like Ironworks just because it reminds me of those old micro machine combinable play sets. I\'d love to see more of these little base guys made so you could expand to several of them.

I was under that impression as well. It's good to know that we'll have that option. I don't think that whoever put the parts on Wheeljack did a very good job though. I'm sure that there are much better ways to use Ironworks as a weaponizer than that.

I so badly want a good Wheeljack from Generations but like the last two Generations figures before this one you can tell this mold was not made for him but rather another Autobot. This time again Sunstreaker. Which that will be nice to have next to SIEGE Sideswipe but it sure is upsetting to not have a good original Wheeljack in any core collectors line.

Still not over Daddy-O. Somehow a worse (and better) name than Big Daddy.

Each picture of Wheeljack leaves me feeling a little more disappointed. What's with the ultra slim profile on the arms in one dimension, while ultra-thick in the other dimension? The alt mode is awesome, but the robo mode leaves a lot to be desired.

Ironworks, on the other hand, gets more exciting by the moment. Can't wait to have a landscape littered with these bases all interconnected forming a massive battlefield for Micromasters.

...well the original micromaster stations followed micromachine playsets as their template, so that’s to be expected...

...soundwave should have totally been a modulator for his cybertronian form!..

These images confirm that Earthrise's Battle Master bridge guy, Soundbarrier, his transformation is "unfold backpack, lay down" and that's so lame.

You're gonna hurt his feelings, he's very sensitive (on account of him being a ramp/shield).
