I agree that it’s not likely, but there is a chance that a Nickel could be made. Shes a part of the team, so there’s an opportunity to add to the set if they wanted.

Yeah that’s what I usually do. Maybe one day I’ll put them together. I kinda meant on my display though, they are staying separate.

Slightly off topic but I can’t think of any other addition to Transformers that has been as well received as the DJD.

Got my copy of Merak in. Displayed with the rest of the figures from this set, it's truly a stunning group, especially at this scale. The only issues I see are the ratchet spacing in the Merak's hips, obviously a sacrifice for the combined mode's stability and the weird hollowless of Merak's extra open hands. Other than, I'm very happy with this set. As I originally thought the combined mode is very much an extra that wasn't really the point of my purchase or desire to have this set, but it sure is fun:

One thing I didn't consider is that since it doesn't reflect any continuity/canon, there are no issues with accuracy. The result is you can configure and assemble the combined mode in any fashion... your only restriction is from your imagination. As others have shown, Tarn isn't even necessary. Nobody can tell you it's wrong. So... who needs a hand?

Oops, I realized I missed using the the set of hands inside Alkaid's forearms for a grand total of 5 pairs of hands. Although I guess there are ways to get Mizar, Phecda, and Dubhe's hands exposed, too, if you wanted.

And yet it seems like half the people that say they love them also say they didn't (and won't) read IDW's comics from which they came...

Phecda's arms are entirely irrelevant to sniper mode so they're free as a bird. Mizar... I think his waist connection is secure enough to sacrifice his arms, right? Use his Iron Man hands to give the gun FOUR barrels.

The IDW comics were a mixed bag. The DJD was an incredible concept, but we never saw the battle everyone always wanted, DJD vs Wreckers. That would have been great. But ultimately, the confrontation between Megs and Tarn was a letdown, making Tarn far less compelling of a character than originally depicted. I try to convince myself that the later appearances don't count.

And it didn't help that the other storylines in the MTMTE/Lost Light title were abstract, confusing, extremely preachy, and fully of navel-gazing one-on-one relationships that intentionally challenged expectations and social norms. I never thought my TF comics were the appropriate place for those kinds of topics, as it was very off-putting, so I can see why many never got to enjoy the DJD portion of the books. But as a concept, the DJD is brilliant. Hopefully IF will make some IDW wreckers so we can all have that battle the comics never gave us.

Does anyone know the best way to contact Iron Factory? My Tarn's left leg joint just fell apart. Never been transformed or moved, I picked him off the shelf and his leg fell off! The joint is in pieces.

The other half "love" IDW and then would call MMC's inaccurate IDW alt modes, "IDW accurate".

Someone here sent a pic and a brief description of the issue on their Facebook page about a copy of Dubhe and got a replacement part. After that, IF sent off the replacement piece for Dubhe in the Kaon and Vos two pack.

I'm trying to learn to be patient and not just buy from the first e-tailer that's gets the figures I want, but BBTS is taking too long to get Merak in stock, lol. He's all I need to ship my POL for this month.

Kind of in the same boat here. They're bugging me to start shipping things, as I've got Titan Omega Supreme in there past the expiry, but Merak's on the slow boat and it would be very nice if I could manage to ship them all together.

If you mean how he beat around the bush and was basically saying he didn’t like the “gay” robots and such, I agree.

It’s like when I hear someone say, “why are they shoving this down my throat ...” news flash: no one is shoving anything down your throat. Gay people exist (and I’m sure if sentient robots existed, they’d be into a lot of “weird” shit our tiny human minds couldn’t even begin to comprehend). And now they’re in your comics.

    Get used to it.

(P.S: we need more Nazi punching in our comics/games; and more KKK/equivalent to getting their asses handed to them or burning themselves like in RDR)

I rarely pre-order and buy anything from BBTS nowadays. ToyDojo and ChosenPrime is where it’s at.

If they release a tarn-colored version of the gestalt I hope it has the tarn/glitch face under the mask, amor maybe an alternate with that face.

Not in the slightest. There's a time and a place in literature for those heavy topics. I just don't think that an IDW comic centered around a kids' toyline about battling robots was the appropriate place. And I think that could have kept some people from enjoying the entertaining DJD story parts. The DJD is a fantastic concept that was mired in an otherwise self-indulgent, preachy, slog of a comic. It's my opinion. Sorry, not sorry.

Anyway, I got my final member of the IF DJD crew today. But I can't bring myself to combine them. They're such a great group as a group, I don't want to merge them. Definitely worth the purchase though.

It's not kids who were buying these comics.

See also The Flintstones, whose semi-recent comic book was, in contrast to its cartoon roots, a nuanced socio-political commentary from the perspective of a blue-collar worker and as I understand it, achieved a certain level of acclaim for that subversiveness.

The comic book medium as a whole evolved as an expression of counter-culture. There's no subject that is off limits, provided the writer can convey the concept with due tact. Good fiction, or writing in general, should leave the writer with lingering doubts and questions and spark the imagination long after the narrative itself is over. That's how you know the end product is memorable and worthwhile, and not just popcorn schlock meant to appeal to the lowest common denominator, with no lasting appeal.
