...and that's why I'm just gonna get the Steel Brigade Trooper, in case we get official Joes; that way, he'll (I'll? We'll?) blend right into my display-to-be. Plus, I'm already getting the Commander head.
So, where do we stand with GI Joe? Is the line still in limbo? Are there any rumors of a resurgence thanks to Snake Eyes? Will the line continue the 4 Inch, 25th Anniversary style? Or will the 4 Inch figures lose the bulk of the articulation? Will the line go 6 Inch, like Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, and Power Rangers Lightning Collection? Will GI Joe have a Evergreen Design line like Transformers? Or isn’t the line dead and buried and it’s time to ditch all the old figures?
I think the assumption is some sort of toyline will result from the movie. Though nothing is guaranteed.
There are toys being developed for the Snake Eyes movie but no word on what kind, exactly. Approaching Toy Fair we should be seeing something on it
How are any of your old figures changed regardless of what happens? If you liked them before, I say keep them. I have all my old Joe figures including most the boxes (as recently some were pictured)...Nothing that happens in the future with the line is going to change what I already have. I was pretty happy to see it when I opened that box of goodies. I knew I had it but just no idea where until recently. Now, I need to find the actual Megatron figure that came in that box but no rush on that since I know it's somewhere in my storage.
Some reissued toys would seem a given when the SE movie rolls around. Though, come to think of it, the SE movie hasn't really been said to revolve around GI Joe. It might just be a ninja movie.
So far from what I've read, it's a reboot which shows Snake Eyes' origin while he mingles with the Arashikage Clan and goes against some made-for-movie Ninja clan meanwhile Baroness is in there too. Said ninja movie clan has ties to Cobra or something. IIRC, some of the toys are planned to be electronic
Well, Baroness being involved somehow makes sense considering their connection in the old Marvel comics... going to have to see how it actually pans out though. How can it be so hard to make a good military-themed film when they've been making them since black and white movie days? smdh
This. Dumping stuff you already have that you like doesn't accomplish anything. It certainly doesn't teach the brand's mishandlers a lesson.
Indeed. About the only time, I could see myself selling my 25th collection of Joe stuff would be if they ever make the jump to a 6 inch line. Mostly because I only collecting the 3 3/4 inch line because there isn't a 6 inch option.
I started to sell some of my older 25th figures since I'm happier with the later POC/30th/50th/Retaliation versions. For example I sold my 25th Storm Shadow since I prefer the Ultimate one from wave 4 of Retaliation. Stuff like that. Also my 25th Destro since I much prefer the 50th version.
Oh yeah, that too. I do the "character switch out" myself since I have a rule about only having one version of each character from a franchise. So, sometimes older figures get the boot if I prefer a new version that just got released. Though I've learned to wait until I have the newer figure in hand first before I sell the old one since sometimes the newer figure isn't always as cool in hand as initial images make it look.
if they start the line with 6" (like Legends) or 5" (like SW GOA) would it automatically be a deal-breaker for fans? I know 4" is the be-all/end-all for a lot of SW fans (at least till Black Series started getting hot) and with larger scales, any GIJOE vehicles would be prohibitively expensive (especially for a kid-friendly audience line)...
Something just felt completely off about Xmas this year, between the Wednesday and the 50 degree temperatures it just didn't seem much like Christmas today..but it did take me back to Christmas of 86. The first gift I opened was Zartan and his swamp skier and with temperatures pretty similar to today,I took my new found treasure outside to marvel at the color change feature and just couldn't bring myself to go back inside. With everyone else's Christmas on hold,my mom finally told me if I didn't come back inside I wouldn't get any more gifts so I reluctantly came back inside. My next gift was a Tactical Battle Platform and then the Whale. My brother got a Conquest, Night Raven and Moray. Later that night I went to go over by my dad for Christmas with him..and was gifted the mother of all playsets, the Flagg. My place became the place to go to play GIJoe. A couple months later for my birthday, my mom got me the Terror Drome. Best Christmas ever
