including/removing weapons is one thing, removing the extra bits that make a figure $20 more expensive is another. is it possible? yes. is it likely though? why would they want to sell it cheaper when most people will either cave or just wait for amazon to sell the leader at $30 like they have with shockwave. selling the figure without the trailer would set a bad precedent for the way they currently handle the leader class figures. again, if that were an option then galactic man shockwave would not have come with his extra bits and would have been sold as a voyager since so many people complained about his price as well

because they could include it in a pack with other figures easier, and it would also boost sales of the normal prime

hasbro showed during titans return that they have no qualms about including leader class figures in multipacks. also it wouldn't boost sales of the normal prime, it would logically drop them if people could get the base figure for cheaper.

Just because they didn't the one time doesn't mean they can't/won't in the future.

It's possible they could do something where a Leader Class figure (with the bits) is reused in Selects a a Voyager without them.

Maybe Shockwave's molds were such that it was easier to just repaint the entire thing black rather than try to block off the add-ons. Maybe they didn't want to release just the standalone Voyager because the standalone alt didn't seem like something they could easily pass off as anything other than a gun...or the standalone alt seemed pretty lame on it's own without the armor bits. Maybe the fact it was "Galactic Man Shockwave" lead them to keep him as the full Leader figure. Maybe, in the future, they'll find ways to keep the add-on molds separate from the bits for the main robot so they can easier produce one without the other.

I'd say never say never. If you asked Warden I'd bet you'd get their "we'll see..." answer. Because it's something the door is open for should they ever decide to take it.

They also showed at least once recently where they were willing to repack a Voyager with extra bits as a leader (SS-32 and 44).

In that case, early adopters could use the base figure to combine with Jetfire. People who waited still had that option, but for $20 they also got a bonus weapon platform/jetpack for the Voyager if they didn't want the Jetfire combination. (Or if they wanted to display both)

So it's not impossible that we could see it again. Especially if Hasbro releases a Voyager who could potentially pair with another figure or have a combination of it's own.

Both Armada and Energon Prime would be good examples of this. You could buy the standalone cab to use in alternate combinations...but Hasbro/Takara could sell a cab + trailer version that gave you the full Super Prime mode as well.

This would actually be a situation where a boxed set could happen. You have a retail Prime (Voyager) that can combine with a retail Wing Saber (Leader). That same retail Prime then gets packed in a set with four drones and a trailer as to take on his Super Mode.

i never said never either, but the liklihood of it happening isnt high. just because they can do something doesn't mean they will, and them producing a leader figure without the bits as a voyager too close to the leaders release would set the precedent that people can just wait for a stripped down version of the leaders, then sales of leaders will drop. i've not once said it was impossible, but i've said it'll be unlikely to happen anytime soon

also in your example, its a voyager that later got repacked with a trailer, meaning the trailer didnt share molding with the base figure. in the case of earthrise prime its the opposite, a leader that does share molding with the trailer where parts would either have to be gated off, remolded or made and then melted back down. seems like a lot of extra work for very little payoff

SS 32 and 44 came out within a wave of each other. With the oddities that come with holiday distribution...both are on shelves together in some places right now.

Also, I think people are getting too tied to the idea of it being the same character. Look at how MP44 is getting repainted as Nemesis Prime w/out the trailer. What if they sold a Voyager Whirl, and then a wave later revealed a Leader based on Energon Bulkhead that included the extra armor bits?

Hell, a model like this would even work within the new world we're creating with modular play styles. You could sell Voyager Whirl and Leader Bulkhead in the same wave and not cannibalize sales. I wager the only reason Hasbro didn't sell 32/44 within the same relative is wave is because they wanted to space out the Primes. Has SS-32, Jetwing Prime, and Jetfire all come within the same wave...you could've marketed it as being able to cross play between the two leaders...or forego the trailer and just have the Jetfire Prime combo.

Hence why I said 32/44 is the better example of what people are thinking of. Releasing the same figure as both a Voyager and a Leader within a relatively close span...but offering things that make both attractive purchases to collectors.

SS44 is an example of a Voyager figure, presumably with his own set of molds, that comes with extra bits that are presumably on their own molds as well. So clearly they've already figured that out in this case. So what's not to say they couldn't recreate it again if they were so inclined?

Not sure if I've mentioned this here yet but

Something I just picked up on while fiddling with the Micromasters from the 10-pack..

Three of the head sculpts in the 10-pack were unique.
    • Ricon (the Highjump redeco) has Hydraulic's head and torso design
    • Irontread (Powertrain redeco) has Big Hauler's head and torso design
    • Cratermaker (Flak redeco) has Bombshock's head design
Bombshock, as we know, is getting a figure in Earthrise.

But what do the figures the redecos/retools were based on have in common?
    Their original toy release year.
Specifically, there were 6 regular non-combining Micromaster teams released in 1990.
Of them, we currently know of 2 that are absolutely going to be released. The Military & Hot Rod Patrols.

Half of each of the original six Micromaster teams was released in Siege, excluding Soundwave's cassettes & the Battle Squad

My guess is that the Monster Truck Patrol, the Air Patrol, the Construction Patrol, and the Race Track Patrol are going to get released during Earthrise alongside one or more of the Micromaster Combiner teams.

Can't wait to see more micro bases, if only so they can stop pretending that the pieces are meant to go on device figures lol.

There's nothing special or outstanding about this new Wheeljack - in the generations sense - but I'm digging him (I already sold off my MP20+ for him).

I was scratching my head at this at first but I looked at closer at MP and Earthrise WJ and they aren’t too far off from each other in bot mode.

I knew they werent going to release Wheeljack with the bright white color. Such a shame. The combiner wars WJ is superior compared to his hasbro counterpart. If they could not do bright white at least with a grayish mp+ hue, not this yellowed sun exposed colorway.

Yeah totally that's what I was thinking when I read about the trade embargo tax tariffs rising costs 10% or whatever. I totally could see Hasbro/Takara making the WFC Beast Wars line in large legends, aka the old 2004 "basic" size class, as the new deluxe, per se'. since they have to redesign the 2021 figures anyway.
