    Sick? No.

However I am definitely getting to the end of my collecting days. I may be still picking up pieces every now and then, but with Siege and Earthrise, it's all gap filling for me.

After Earthrise, unless we branch out into other, unique parts of the franchise, I may have my fill. If we get into Beast Wars, JG1 or heck even Armada, I'll pick up more figures. But Earthrise seems like it will fill all of the gaps in a G1 collection.

I think after I get the new Mirage I only want a new Sunstreaker, and maybe Inferno, but I might just stick with my Universe Grapple and Inferno. The ER mold looks great, but I have mostly everything I want now.

I want the new Astrotrain, but I might stick with the TR version to have the three Decepticon triple changers in a consistent style, even though I dig the Siege alt modes more.

There may be a thing here and there that I pick up (especially if we finally get a Selects Delta Magnus. I would love that, as well as an Earthrise G2 Megatron), but I don't need to buy full waves of characters anymore, since Siege (and partly TR) have replaced some of the worse CHUG molds for me, and given me characters I needed figures of.

Now, if we do get some good BW updates, or even an Armada based line I'll get some of those for sure.

[EDIT] Oh, and Hoist and Trailbreaker. I forgot about them. The Generations mold for them is terrible, and the shoulders keep getting extremely loose, and they're way too tiny. I hope we get a Trailbreaker out of the Hoist mold. After that, maybe I'd get a Skids, but it's still just a figure here and there, which was my previous point.

I'm not sick of collecting per se, just sick of buying lots of figures I don't have any real attachment to. I spent the past few years amassing a large collection of pretty much whatever I could get my hands on, and now I find myself looking at a lot of it and realizing I don't really care for it anymore... So I am going to begin a purge and then streamline things from there.

Being a dad has awakened me to just how finite space and finances are. So yes, I'm ready to carve out a place in my home, display my best bots, and call it at that. But mostly I want it to be a good looking display. I see other collections, where guys have legions of boxes, or bots crammed together in static poses and I just think "ick." I want there to be a certain art to it. So someone can walk in, see my collection, and appreciate it. And I can be proud of it.

As for whatever the future brings... I just turned 36. I'm hoping to be done by 40. I'll be happy with my definitive versions, mostly Generations, and Masterpiece for those extra-special guys.

I sold everything (G1, GI Joe, Star Wars...everything) except MP's when we bought our house 4 years ago. Then I sold the MP's a year later.

Now its Legends/Titans Returns, Combiner Wars (G1 combiners only), Siege and Earthrise as my main collection with G1 reissues as a secondary.

    The cycle continues.

You read minds? Because that's exactly my thoughts.

I only collect generations classic style, one of each character, best g1 show-accuracy version, and screen appearances up to Rebirth. If i'm feeling nasty i'll buy a character outside those parameters but they typically sit in sell purgatory.

Nope. Just got Siege Astrotrain, Rumble and Ratbat, and I'm expecting Rong, Singe and Spinister later this week.

Yes, and this thread just inspired me to cancel my cheap Gabriel preorder with BBTS. It really does look like a great figure...but it's just outside of my collection goal, which has like 2 figures left on it, and I just don't care enough anymore. I feel like if I kept the preorder, I'd get it, transform it once, and then throw it on the floor in my 'toy room'. And then if/when the day comes I look to unload my collection, it will be a royal pain in the ass to dump and get anything back due to its size (aka shipping) and the lack of interest in 'old' 3rd Party figures. So yeah...$200 isn't really worth the hour or less of interest I'd give it, and it's not even a great display piece when you don't have a good spot for displaying it.

So I'm going to speak in more general terms as I just started collecting TF. I never intended to but I like collecting various toy lines and this seemed like a fun one to check out. I started with the SS line and wow....I went nuts the last couple weeks. Got some deals, overpaid a little bit for a few and now I have a lot...like most of the SS line I either have or is on it's way to being delivered. Yeah....don't know how that happened. I already know I wont be keeping all the ones I purchased...at least not long term.

Then I decided to check out the Siege line. I'm being more picky with this line. I'm giving myself clear restraints on what is and isn't on my list. I have 3 figures from the line with a few from Earthrise pre-ordered.

But going back to speaking in general....yes, collecting in general can kind of reach the burn out factor. I don't know how much more I plan on ultimately collecting. There's a lot of cool stuff I plan on owning but I'm also looking at my collecting goals and constantly selling stuff off. I used to be a big 3.75" Star Wars collector. I since eased back off of that to the point of picking up only some stuff here and there.

My wife left last May and my collecting exploded. For a Stretch there I was buying almost everything Marvel Legends (clearly a coping mechanism). I still buy a fair amount (partially due to Hasbro just going nuts with 90's X-Men related stuff) but I've also gone back regularly and sold stuff off I know I no longer want.

Ultimately, it's important for the collecting to be enjoyable and not a chore. It's also important to look at what you're collecting and try to rememeber why you collected in the first place. Are you sticking with your goal? Will you be happy with what you have? Once you get that last piece will your collection be complete or is it a compulsion?

Also check out Toy Galaxy's video "Why I sold my collection?" I watch it every couple months to keep me on track.

I'm just a rare case, I guess. I never have, at least for extended periods of time. Sure after there's a huge wave like in July-September, finance-wise I can be like "Can you take a break for a bit, Hasbro?" but otherwise no. And I get pretty much everything domestically. I don't care about having many of the same characters, it's the engineering and "puzzle" of the toys I enjoy the most.

That said, this year has been nuts in terms of the amount of product released. Part of me is glad Botcon is over because I would NOT be able to afford it with all the stuff that's out now. Which to me says that my collecting days are limited regardless, because this is what every company does when they're on their last legs-- they pump out a bunch of extra product to make up for the fact they're selling less of each. (See: Comics.)

I've had ups and downs with my collecting, but seeing as how I just had Seige Astrotrain, MPM Ironhide, and Masterpiece Dinobot delivered, as well as grabbing a few things from my local toy/geekshop's Black Friday/2 year anniversary sale, I can safely say that I'm currently not sick of collecting.

What's helped is that said local toy/geekshop does buys & trades, so I've been able to unload a ton of old figures to help make room for newer things, whether because they've been outmoded or I just didn't feel like keeping them anymore.

I am actually already done collecting TFs. I am going to wait a year or so and then casually collect Mega Construx off pocket money (AKA Money I can spare). The prices are stupidly good right now in CA.

Back in 2007 I was buying stuff just to buy stuff, it seemed. I got burnt out, realized I didn’t even care about a lot of those items and sold off almost all of it. I got back into it two years ago after an 11 year break, but I told myself I would focus only on those things I really want and enjoy. For every figure I actually buy these days, I’ve probably talked myself out of 5 others. Sure, I’ve fallen off the wagon a few times, but for the most part, I can look at all of this stuff and honestly say that I’m glad I got it. I try to set limits and stick to them. And I’m happier because of it.

No, Im kinda sick to imagine my life without hobby.

Then again, I have many other hobbies outside collecting toys and my collection isnt that huge anyway. Im quite picky and wouldnt buy stuff just for the sake of completing.
