Thanks for the pics. Having done that thanks to @Actar , I’m still frustrated that the leg thigh swivels need to be positioned in such a way to maximize the knee/butt flap connection.

Also, I find it hard to “tab” the arm pit/shoulder bits together. The angle is weird and I feel like I’m gonna flex something too much and break the figure.

The gun also doesn’t tab in at the crotch piece very well.

Despite the aforementioned, I love the figure overall.

cant wait to transform my BW MPs to bot modes to display together.

Try to pop her head off? I've done that with a couple of TFs due to this reason.

My BA has scratched gold paint on the side of her head as well.

I think my quote was along the lines of "she's (relatively) cheap". Her price - $108 - is "cheap" only when compared to Dinobot (~$225+) and Megatron (~$250+). So, with tongue planted in cheek, she is "cheap" (not really).

I'm not sure why a (kind of) less-expensive figure can't be "meh", but everybody agreed with your assessment, so....I dunno. I guess I interrupted the celebrity circle jerk nature of this thread.

    Sorry?

Nope. I LOVE the show/series. It began my second childhood, got me into Transformers after living real life for 10 years. As much as I adore "G1", I might be a bigger Beast-era fan.

I WANT to support anything Beast Wars.

After mulling over the attitudes and statements expressed in here, fiddling with the figure some more, and thinking about it far too much, there are a few things that are interrupting my possible adoration of this line:

    * The Prices. Uggh. I said I was out with Megs' price, but I'm still buying like a chump
    * Packaging: I'd really love it if T-T started getting more out of the wonderful art they commission (and use only for cards). Also, everything would be a lot better for me if these were packaged in robot forms. I completely loathe transforming the Beast Wars MPs.
    * More of a balance between perfect CG-accurate robot modes and screen-/real-life-accurate beast modes. As much as I HATE agreeing with that guy, I would prefer there be a small compromise to robot accuracy if it meant significantly better beast modes. As it is, it feels like beast mode is like an afterthought or a throw-the-hands-up-in-the-air gesture when conversion problems are presented.
    * Less delicate (-feeling?) figures with transformations that don't require rubbing parts against each other, slight bending of parts, and the constant wearing of articulation joints while transforming. Totally stressful. I keep hearing of broken parts or figures and adding the cost to my thoughts just makes the process of conversion unpleasant. If they came in robot mode, I wouldn't ever transform them, and would have PAPO or Wildlife Safari stand-ins in the case(s).

I didn't know that was possible. Mine doesn't. I really don't see how it could possibly do that without gluing some joints.

In defense of breakage. Every single BWMP I've purchased (all 5 of them) has not had any of the issues these threads bring up. I think a majority of units come through without breakage. It's a vocal minority who's units break. And even less of those are due to manufacturing, and more of people being too forceful. I understand the argument "at these prices, every last unit has to be perfect!" But that is virtually impossible for any consumer good. Your other complaints are subjective and fair so I wont comment on them. I just want to emphasize that the complaints on here about breakage shouldn't deter you from enjoying these amazing figures.

My main complaint about these, however, is the paint chipping. Every one of mine have them pretty bad (except meg's so far). But i also transform them back and forth A LOT. I would love more durable paint TT.

Nah, it's fine. You can evaluate the cost however you want. And you are allowed to be "meh" about a cheap figure. The comedy for me came from the fact people have been bitching about how expensive she is. Other people have been saying how wonderful a figure she is. I haven't seen anyone fall into the category of finding her inexpensive and not great.

No need to be sorry, I was just amused.
Awesome! I'm with you on that!

So I somewhat agree with you, though I feel like the balance has *mostly* been met. Dinobot had compromises in both modes, and I personally really think both modes get it 90% of the way there. It's obviously up to personal taste, but I never understood any complaints against his beast mode.

Blackarachnia is the first one where I can appreciate the distaste for the beast mode. It ISN'T great. Could it have been better without greatly sacrifising robot mode? No idea. Am I personally overly upset about it? Not really. I've come to enjoy the beast mode for what it is, and am currently displaying her in it. I think she looks great on the web, and I love the posability of the head and legs. You can get some pretty nice poses out of that beast mode. But it IS compromised more than I would have liked, definitely.

So I get you on that, and you are absolutely allowed to feel how you feel.
So this one is obviously hard to fully judge. I have all the figures so far, and I transform ALL of them regularly. The only problem I've ever had is with Cheetor, and I had that problem presented itself basically right away. The arm panel was super tight, and after a few transformations cracked. I managed to get a few more trasnformations before it broke off completely, at which point I sold him and bought a new one and have had no problems since. I would probably say as long as you handle them with care, unless they are faulty from the start you're probably okay.

I think it’s just much harder (if not outright impossible) to get solid alt modes with the BW figures. It’s not like vehicles, where you have a lot of mass and straight lines. You just have to accept that figures with thin, organic alt modes are going to have some severe compromises that leave quite a bit of the bot mode on show.

I mean, I do accept that.

However, for people who are willing to allow for soem compromises, I do think several of blackarachnia's problems in beast mode could have been solved with a backpack in robot mode. Not a massive one, either. Just an extra panel or two tucked away behind the main back panel. One to cover the front of the abdomen, for example.

Or, there is a section of the leg that ind of folds in, but not much. If they allowed the leg to squeeze in tighter, you could have maybe folded the black panel around the legs more to cover them up a bit.

It all depends on whehter you okay with the robot mode not being perfect or not.

You know its hard to say. I tried looking at the pics of the faces on the instruction manual, and I can barely tell the other 2 faces apart. I'll have to look at it again. You got an extra face?

One has slightly wider eyes, while the other has slightly narrowed ones and a barely distinguishable smirk (below):

If you position the legs correctly she is able to hold herself up, no problem.

My ball joints are pretty loose too, btw!

I didn’t think it was possible either but someone posted a while back that the legs have a hard stop on one side of the black piece they are attached to. If you rotate that black piece on the robot arms so they are in the correct orientation the spider legs apparently hold the spider up. I haven’t actually tested this yet because mine is still in the box.
