Lepin? Is that you? Seriously, all these nezha items look like cheap bootlegs, fitting for the country they are targeted at.
The best thing about Tranformers is that Transformers were on Earth! Budiansky said it and I will agree always. They transform into our cars, interact with our culture. Transformers in MTMTE have boring, characterless alt modes they barely use. And they never go to Earth. It's a Star Trek comic. IDW comics had a boring, G1 approach to Optimus and Megatron. Animated had a fresh new take on the whole universe, with a unique spin on the characters. And Animated actually had a unique style that is so detached from G1. MTMTE art style is just Geewun, but with anime and unnecessary details.
Wow every single piece except for the heads are stolen directly from LEGO. I\'ve never supported knock-off LEGO brands and I\'m not about to now. At least Mega Constructs designs most of their own pieces, this is just sad.
It was just a point of balance and nuance, don't give it more weight than I intended it to have. Because my overarching point was essentially: Why I have little sympathy for Lego Group in this kind of a scenario and why I don't particularly care. But in drawing a comparison between a) a contemporary situation of someone violating someone's patent and/or trademark in a world where they would most assuredly know about and be directly affected by it and b) a much older scenario in which the patent holder never even knew and was not directly, personally affected by it, I just wanted to point out that they aren't apples to apples comparisons. Even as my overall point was that they're at least analogous and that that's at least one (of several) reasons why I have little sympathy for them in this situation. But at the end of the day regardless it boils down to: I just don't care personally lol. My post wasn't that serious.
These sets just make me wish lego and hasbro would put aside whatever beef they have towards the other and team up to make actual Lego Transformers.
Cool thing about BTR is that the weapons were at least 5mm pegged. So if you have any still in bins, you can at least use the weapons for modern Transformers.
Can't wait for this collaboration to cause international controversy when the Chinese condemn Optimus Prime for his iconic line "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings," as related to the current protests in Hong Kong and Hasbro put out some milquetoast PR statement in response and avoid having Prime be too outspoken about defending freedom in all media going forward so as not to offend the delicate sensibilities of their Chinese audience
They'll just give him Megatron's motto and sit you in a tiny cage and grill you if you question it. See? Problem solved.
