Online shopping sucks. I like to see and hold what I'm buying before I purchase and take it home without worrying about if and when it will arrive. Online shopping is such a crap shoot especially with clothing and electronics. You never know if the clothing will fit right or if the electronics will even work... and returning things online is a pain in the ass.

It's also extremely funny to mess with people who take music super seriously by acting like you're completely oblivious to older music, so if I was her I'd have been all "well they can't be that good if I've never heard of them", just to further infuriate the Sunglasses-In-My-Truck-Twitter-Selfie crowd.

 

Yup, a lot of older bands take it extremely seriously when you don't know who they are.

 

It's great to have the option though, and it's really opened up a whole world of options that I never would've been able to find at retail. The notion that people are seemingly content to abandon retail shopping is somewhat alarming. I want to have the best of both worlds.

I was actually going to bring this woman up anyway. So "Bad Guy" came on the radio and I was fascinated with how absolutely fucking TERRIBLE the song was. I did what little cursory research I needed to do on the subject, which was ask my reprobate at the time 17 year old who the hell she was. The first words out of her mouth was "She's 17", which got me thinking about how fucking TERRIBLE the song "Royals" was, and that Lorde was lauded because she wasn't old enough to drive when she recorded it.

At what time does your age become immaterial when considering your actual talent? Had a 25 year old recorded EITHER song they'd have been laughed out of town. I can't understand how someone gets a pass when there are people their age that are LEGITIMATELY GOOD songwriters and musicians.

 

The Dualshock controller is a terrible design and I do not understand the appeal. Doesn't help that the quality feels like garbage to the point I could snap this thing in half...oh, and this is the Black Friday PS4 I'm talking about.

 

Semi-related: I'm really sick of shooters that use R2 to fire your gun by default, even if you can change it in the settings. It's just so stupid, it should be R1. No one pulls the trigger of an actual firearm with their middle finger, so why put the fire button on the button meant for the middle finger? Just makes zero sense to me.

 

Budweiser is so gross that I'd rather not have a beer than have one of those. It's always skunky. Maybe that's how it's supposed to taste.

Really? Best non aftermarket controller I think. Xbox is too clunky.

 

DS4s are the drizzling shits compared to XBO and Switch Pros. Ergonomics from 1997, mediocre at best build quality for modern first party and battery life so short that it might as well be a wired controller.

Sony controllers have never been any more than adequate, but they are currently the worst they've ever been compared to first party contemporaries.

 

Yeah, the cord is a total joke if plugged in, the plug jiggles all over the place even when connected.

Also not a fan of the single plug headset connector only in the controller and nothing on the console. The coord length on my HyperX Cloud Stinger is FIVE FEET and it's a low end gaming headset. And the thing included in the bundle is a joke as well if the hard plastic earbud doesn't sit in your ear due to being too big. I got lucky and a headset I got before the HyperX designed for talking through a phone works perfectly, but the idea a modern console is so reliant on a controller with such glaring and easily fixed flaws...ugh.

 

The trade off is a shit system (XBO) that breaks for no apparent reason I guess.

 

The Xbox controller still, for some arse backwards reason, has a memetic reputation in some sectors due to the original Xbox controller which was pretty big. Its second revision was much more manageable and the 360 Elite controller became, and has basically remained, the gold standard in controller design. Sony’s DualShock controller is long due for an overhaul that acknowledges that the analogue sticks being side by side is uncomfortable and that their trigger design is shit.
