I would love to see official releases of both Earthrise Optimus and MP-44 in Crayola Convot colors.

Well yeah Darkstone did put it best but that's not what he said was how it works. That's how he said HE would like it, but it's based on TTMall exclusives being letters or full releases being numbers.

Curious bro how old are you?

I still hope we get some crazy accessories that make me want this guy... like an energon blade instead of the axe, a cool unique gun or something. Because if this just comes with the same rifle as Optimus Prime and a translucent red axe but nothing else it might be too boring for me to bother.

I actually want to give this mold a chance because I really don’t like the look of it all that much, but for half the price, in black and with some neat accessories... why not?

I wonder if the removed more for that price. Like if the electronics are gone and the backpack is just hollow plastic. Because as mentioned earlier in this thread, Optimus Prime's voice lines make no sense for this character.

But if he is an evil clone of Optimus Prime... personally, I'd just use sound clips of Peter Cullen's Venger voice from the D&D cartoon :lol

I don't see why that matters.

You forgot the Year of the Horse redeco, the Shattered Glass version, and the Golden Lagoon version in terms of """purely Transformers""" ones. Plus, if Capperclawed is talking about MP-10 redecos as a topic, they probably are including all the myriad brand-crossover redecos. Why make the distinction of only ones that are "purely Transformers"? The crossover redecos aren't suddenly not Transformers products or redecos of MP-10 just because they've been touched by another brand. Who would make or discuss a collection of just the MP-10 mold and exclude most of the uses of that mold just for being crossovers?

That's a good point, I'd not concidered that. Yet another aspect if the original figure I found superfluous removed! Fanatastc! Now if they could slim down that backpack as a result that would be amazing...can't see it happening though. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if they keep the voice box and replace the sounds with generic laser and transformation noises. It's sorta frustrating that this might shape up to be the version of the figure I'd have wanted the original release to be.

I just realized he is not sporting a decepticon symbol. Black Prime and Scourge have similar color patterns

Believe me I like to keep them alive. I’m the only continued leader of the MP-X revival party.

I will never understand why the numbering matters so much

I don't really get why it's a numbered release. G1 Black Convoy has never actually been a real character.

It's not a huge deal. It's just that people expect numbered releases to be actual characters. If it were Black Lio Convoy, Car Robots Black Convoy, or Micron Legend Black Convoy, it would have made more sense.

I thought it was a small scale Legends toy at 1st glance that wonkey truck mode and overly skinny legs look like the sort of compromises a small toy has to make. It's strange times we live in when an official product looks more like the IP infringing product than the so called KO's do.

I would like to ask Cartoon Fans though ; does this mould appeal to you as some sort of nod to cartoon accuracy ? Or do other people just look at it and think - that is a funny looking truck and a lanky robot.

Shame really as I do sort of collect Black Convoy / Nemesis Prime toys so to have one that is so expensive and yet unsatisfactory makes it a really hard sell when I can buy 4 or more Optimus toys for the same amount. I guess it's partly down to price though when comparing it to the way the mould isn't really selling it to me.

Also I hear the toy is a pain the tail to transform as well which isn't ideal either.

For a lot of folks it means that it's a wide release and they'll be able to get the deep preorder discount through retailers like Amazon Japan, Nippon Yasan, etc. TTMall/Hasbro Asia exclusives usually cost quite a bit more without that discount.

Looking forward to seeing that toy head!

The image is poorly cropped, resulting in the skinny thighs. It's the same mold as MP-44, whose legs are sexy af.

I really don't care about all the accessories the original MP-44 came with. I'd jump all over it if it was just the figure alone, especially if it'll significantly reduce the price

It doesn't (at least not in and of itself.) Literally in my post: "It doesn't really matter..." :lol

People enjoy being curious about, hypothesizing about, and discussing things. That doesn't make those things particularly important. There's just something fascinating/curiosity-inducing about trying to figure out what if any logic or pattern may exist behind a company's naming/numbering conventions or whether they really are totally random. Or whether the thinking behind them changes with different people or different times or different designers or what. It's fun to think about and wonder about for some of us. The human brain readily notices inconsistencies in patterns, and constantly looks for patterns. It's what we do. Some of us indulge that for fun. But it doesn't mean we really, really care. :lol

The fact that it's way cheaper and doesn't come with the trailer make me super tempted to get this but it's not right to have a nemesis prime without a regular prime.

I think I'm gonna stick to my original plan of waiting for someone to sell MP-44 without all the extra stuff and trailer.
