Except it’s not. And in scale with what? CHUG? Newsflash people it’s not a CHUG figure! It’s not worth comparing with a CHUG figure because they are not making stuff to put in your CHUG collection. They make essentially stand alone stuff. If that is what people think or expect than a reality check is needed. This isn’t a toy, the model kits themselves arnt toys so people need to build their little bridges and get over it. It’s a “high end affordable collectible” essentially.

 

The question is whether the plastic is identical to the model version or not.

 

Exactly. I think it's overpriced for sure but I do like the models and if I didn't want to go to all the trouble of painting and assembling them this might be tempting. I guess Flame Toys are gonna find out how many people feel that way very soon.

I get the scale thing, they aren't meant to scale with CHUG... but I do think it's a mistake that they don't, it would certainly increase their appeal for some folk. Personally I'm fine with it as I only plan to display mine with other Furai model kits but it would be nice to mix and match with CHUG scaled figures.

 

Yeah its not worth 75 bucks... No offense but with my decent modelling skills ...I think I could make my Flame Toys Op model look alot nicer than the finished product shown....

 

I mean, if this were truly CHUG scale, depending on which IDW Optimus height you go with, it'd be somewhere between 1.3x to 3x the height of Siege Optimus (IDW scale was fucked). But, as it is, it's close enough in height to Siege Optimus that I think it fits in ok with CHUG figures.

 

I couldn't find the link to the preorder for this figure at the HLJ and TF Source links in the main article. Is this normal? Shouldn't the links be to the relevant preorders, rather than the sponsors' respective main pages?

Also, I couldn't find any mention of "Furai" or "Flame Toys" via HLJ's search option.

I might get it. I had fun painting the more anime-y Optimus kit from FlameToys, but I'm never fully satisfied with my paint-jobs. And having a nice small but good-quality duo of IDW Optimus and Megatron (I mean... pretty safe bet that their Lost Light Megs will get this treatment too unless this solds abysmally) would be cool.

Totally understand anyone who thinks it's not worth the money, or just want to have fun making their own, tho, especially the latter.

 

It's just a generic listing of the site's sponsors. Whether they sell the item or not. Most will carry it, but something like HLJ only typically carries Japanese merchandise. Flame Toys is from Hong Kong and might not end up on that site. TFSource might carry it but not have it listed yet.

For the price to me since the kit exists and is currently out, I'd just do the painting myself. Props to those who do though because either way Flame Toys can have all my money just keep making more kits and make Bomber Megatron plz.

 

When the hype up posts have to be daily to try and get attention, I think it’s time to start questioning whether it really has the support you think it has....

 

Wish these kits got made into MP scale or bigger

 

I think it's a dumb product but it's absolutely genius from a marketing standpoint. Charge twice as much for the same toy and you can hit multiple demographics.
