I'm pretty sure it's more complicated than that, or just false. Animated got reruns on The Hub for a while, until the channel got shut down.

Pretty much the entire Transformers fanbase has been curious as to what season 4 would’ve entailed. It’s such a shame that they made this exclusive to TFCon and no recording was allowed.

It’s a bigger shame that this show got cancelled. It seems like it was going to get juicier and bigger with season 4. It’s a pipe dream, but it would be awesome if Hasbro took advantage of this Netflix deal or whatever and decided to bring Animated back for a fourth season. The fact that the show is still talked about so much a decade after it’s cancellation means there’s enough interest that, I would think, would cause Hasbro to at least broach the idea.

We'd need to get the support of the entire TFW board... which is no easy task since the majority of the people on these boards are hardcore Geewunners who I kid you not are extremely supportive of a reboot or continuation of the original G1 show.

I think I missed that note about most of the original cast being there to do the voices... I feel much sadder for not experiencing it now.
I just don't get why somebody would go to a convention and bring out all this stuff but it's only going to be shown to a small percentage of all the TFA fans.

Hasbro seems intent on sweeping Animated under the rug and pretending it never happened.

Maybe, and this is just tinfoil-hat bitch talk outta me, but I think Hasbro wants to "forget" Animated because it's kind of an embarrassing reminder of the whole HUB failure. TFA was co-produced with CN, and TFA was cancelled largely because Hasbro wanted to make their own network TV and get away from CN, but that crashed and burned forcing Hasbro to go back to CN anyway with RID15.

But that's just my sassy take on it. I think in reality it may have to do with Hasbro's bullshit brand unification/synergy thing of everything needing to be superficially similar, they either don't care about or want to intentionally downplay anything that deviates too far from the current "identity" of Transformers.

Honestly the fact that Hasbro's seemingly to be willing to forget not only Animated but every other non G1 era in general and sweep them under the rug because they don't fit their plan to make everything similar is a huge reason why I don't like the current direction the company's taking with Transformers. Not only does it alienate the other TF fans that grew up with those eras but it's also going to end up causing problems for them cause you can only take trying to make everything the same G1 styled content for so long before people will demand for something different. You can't keep selling the same similar looking products and stories over and over forever. Telltale games found that out the hard way which is why they went under to begin with.

I know Hasbro's trying to strike the G1 iron while it's hot but there are ways you can do that as well as make the other TF fans happy too so it's frustrating that Hasbro's isn't even trying to do even that.

This happens with every long running franchise. They'll focus on whats popular and ingrained in pop culture and leave behind everything else. Its not a conspiracy nor is it an act of spite.

Except G1 wasn't super ingrained in pop culture; the franchise needed Beast Wars to come back from the brink.

Yeah, Transformers isn't just "some other 80's franchise that just ended in the 80's."

You're mostly right, but there's the still the studio series movie figures, particularly the constructicons/devastator. Those aren't very G1 styled.

True and for movie fans is certainly a treat. All the same with the exception of the movieverse no other TF fan is as lucky as G1 and the movies are with getting their respective Generations updates.

Studio series is a rare exception due to how popular the live action movies were (until they weren’t). They brought a huge amount of new energy to the franchise due to their wide appeal, but they sacrificed what makes Transformers “Transformers” in order to do it; the movieverse almost killed itself and needed a reboot to find its roots again.

In fact, I would say the Movieverse is another prime example of why doing more of the same year after year is bad for a franchise; it leads to burnout and eventually failure as things fall apart. The franchise is defined by change, and Hasbro seems to have forgotten that.

It wasn't just doing the same thing, it was doing the same thing but worse and handled more incompetently every film.

The cast weren’t there to do the voices, the lines were recorded then edited by a TFNation staff member specially for a one off presentation. A lot of work was put into it

The outline that was read out is still Cartoon Network preproduction property and it was only allowed under the strict proviso it would only be presented once with charity donations during. This was also how they were able to get the majority of the cast to reprise their roles.

Is it a shame it was only the once? for sure, but it really was a once in a lifetime opportunity

So a lot of work was put into it and it will never be heard again.
Nice. Memories fade. A recording would also be nice for people that went.
