Yeah, that was sad to see after I got the GX-71 wrapped in tissue, bubble wrap and those inflatable pillows to prevent damage.

I had the exact same experience! My GX-71 was packed by a pro...my GX-88 was packed a pro gorilla.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Lion was packed by Bluefin (with the wrappings) and sent to Amazon with some sort of instructions or request to use more padding. While Vehicle was sent to them in a large shipper without individual wrapping to be distributed however Amazon saw fit. Thus the computer tossing it into a box.

I came in late in the game when everyone's preorders were starting ship. I looked desperately everywhere, looking at Ebay and messaging every US online stores through messenger and instagram for good price. Because there is no way I'm going to get away with buying something that's $399 plus tax and shipping (ahem! BBTS) when it was selling orginally for $339-$349 USD.

Lo and behold I got a reply from Toydojo that they had one in stock. Quickly scooped it up and here it is, 2 days later. I opted for priority mail shipping and the whole thing cost me $359.. shipped! no taxes! Toydojo rarely, if never has let me down.

Took a few photos I may upload later as I'm still hiding it from the wife. I managed to put it together and put it away while she was busy playing with our daughter.

Overall first impressions? So happy with it. So much that I would never buy another SOC ever again. I never had the Lion Voltron but this guy is as heavy as a brick. I could only imagine what the Go Lion felt like.

So moral of this story is don't be afraid to shop around and contact some trusted online sellers. Chosen prime and BBTS got back to me and they said they're prices had to go up because of demand. Damn, that was like a $60 mark up! and that didn't even include tax or their $4.99 shipping that takes forever to ship.

So....i just got VV and I have to say...Im....underwhelmed? Hes SMALLER than the Miracle one? He costs more....shouldnt he be way bigger? And nobody is saying anything about it? Is the lion voltron from them this small? VV is my favorite Voltron...and an MP of him should be way closer to the original toy size but more adbanced. Plus...his right shoulder doesnt ratchet at all...it clicked in so am i doing something wrong?

His size is in line with the SOC LV. While he isn’t as large as the Miracle figure, my understanding is that he is more solid (don’t own the Miracle figure myself). The shoulder ratchets on mine are a teeny bit on the soft side, but are adequate and are the same on the left and right. It sounds like you might have gotten a bum copy (it’s an issue that has been noted by others). I’ll have to do some digging, but I think someone was able to “fix” the shoulder ratchet by disassembling the helicopter and correcting whatever the issue is. I get your frustration. I love this figure, but, I still struggle a bit to justify the price.

Edit: @inturnmike try this: The Soul of Chogokin, Soul SPEC, SIC, & Super Robot Chogokin Choking on Gokin Thread

The Miracle Metalworks Dairugger is a little wobbly, at least on the version I have. I think they released a few different revisions of the figure, and I’m not sure which one I have. The articulation is good, and it stands okay on its own, but when I stand it up, I never feel like it’s completely stable, which is unfortunate. It still looks pretty good and has a great assortment of accessories, but I’m betting it’s not as solid of a figure as the SOC version. I don’t have my GX-88 yet to compare, but from what I’ve seen from the reviews online, it looks to have the Miracle Metalworks version beat, at least in most respects.

I have to admit that I do like the size and proportions on the Miracle figure.

It's been mentioned a few times. However, height is fairly irrelevant, in the larger picture, in regards to price. Quality, build, complexity, and paint play a much larger role.

And yes, that is the "standard" large combining SOC size. Looks perfect and fits right in with GoLion, God Sigma, Daltanious, etc.

Regardless, the real reason no one cares that it's a little smaller than the Miracle release, is the SOC absolutely destroys it in every way. Quality, strudiness, finish, and just overall in hand feel of the SoC is so far superior, it's very easy to see why it costs more.

The SOC has Miracle beat in every aspect! Unless you judge your toys simply buy how tall they are.

I had a V2 Miracle for years, and it was always just an "ok" placeholder. Never felt like a quality product. Wobbly joints, poor connections, missing/wrong/poor paint apps, terrible face sculpt. The only reason I think it even sold was because it was the only option. I think I paid just under $200 for it, and sold it earlier this year for about $80, and still felt a little guilty getting that much for it.

I finally have an Altimites, complete, the bad is no box but I think I'm good on boxes for making backgrounds

Now I only have to find that stealth Icarus/madtoys/bu toys Voltron and I'll feel like I have a pretty complete transforming Voltron, at least up to date

I’m not too influenced one way or the other, by the small height difference. I’m inclined to agree with you that the SoC version is superior in every way, just based off of what I’ve seen and read, online, but I’m hesitant to give that as a personal opinion until I have the GX-88 in hand to compare the two.
