Putting the two versions next to each other for an easier comparison:

You know what? After spending all this time on "team toy." I'm actually starting to gravitate toward the look of the toon version.

Thank you very much for the comparison. And I think it’s further solidified why I’m happy with just getting the toon version. It’s how it was intended to look and it works really well.

    Toon looks better to me.

I think that's the first time I ever said that, but the toon reminds me of what I aways thought of Bruticus when I was a kid. It weirdly makes me more nostalgic for the toy but not the toy version. It doesn't make sense but trust me on this.

Well the thing is that the "toy" look isn't really the toy look either. Swindle should have more tampos for example. Without those, the "toy" version just becomes super plain because there's less color breakup.

I’ve had the same feeling, also for this. I have no connection to G1 of its debuting era. But the ideas and characters which I connected to in retrospect, that feeling is the nostalgia I get from this. This is just imbued with characterful essence. And the fact that it’s a physical toy make me all the more excited because I’m gonna hold it in my hands and go “wow”.

What kills it for me is that with the toy feet, he looks like he's wearing slippers, but without them, it looks like he has tiny feet that in no way should hold up a combiner of that size.

They do hold him up tho. There’s a substantial amount of heel that makes the actual footprint large enough

I believe you, but I’m talking more visually. The feet look like they shouldn’t hold it up and proportionally are tiny. (To me)

When is Onslaught going to be available for preorder? Blastoff's PO is already out, but per TF Con MMC's display placard, Onslaught is scheduled to be out first.

Combiner looks a bit dumb, but all in for the individual bots. It's like, they didn't try to make the torso toon accurate (he ain't Onslaught blue), so why friggin' bother? Make it toy accurate--which you can easily do--and don't try to eek out another 50 bucks from the customer or whatever it will cost. Already paying close to 600 bucks for the damn thing.

It’s not meant to be just one design. It’s a mix. Like the line has always intended. That’s why they bother, it’s their own designs.

Looks good, but the turret sits too far in front in alt mode?

In the end, Fraudo will be the only one without an ab-crunch.

I'd forgotten how much less green toon Brawl was compared to the toy. But anyway, I think Probus is the best-looking one of the set. The headsculpt is fire.

Seems like it can slide back, and the turret itself can be extended.

So no double rear gun for Brawl?

Coz that'd be weird for him to be the only one without the full set of guns he had as a toy. Even Vortex got an homage to his tail miniguns in the form of less dumb looking tail cannons.

Would also like to see the range of his shoulders. It's often an issue with robots who have big vertical shoulders.
