I'm not partial to cel shaded Transformers, but these look Great. That might be the lighter colours used though.

Optimus really pops in person...i love his colors...especially in his robot mode...

thought it was weird his box didn't have a cool toon-styled artwork panel like Megatron did though

Just picked up these guys yesterday. They both really strike you in person and scream Transformers Devastation (to me, anyway). Also my Walmart has a whole display case of 35th Anniversary TFs which looks really nice

I have these (unlike most of my TFs I kept these in their boxes) on display at work, and I love them. In pics I had major questions about the cel-shaded look (I generally avoid that deco type, as it doesn't match the rest of my collection) but in hand the decos REALLY pop and really DO look like the Devastation characters.

I think Hasbro could probably get away with a whole line of cel-shaded figures in the future, ESPECIALLY if the cartoon goes for that look. It's a way to give a toyline a distinct visual 'feel' -- like Animated, or Prime -- while being able to maintain the traditional look and feel of Transformer designs. Like, I loved the Animated cartoon and toys, but that was in spite of the aesthetic, which felt more like the DCAU than TFs to me. When I say "traditional look and feel" I don't mean rehashing the same old G1 forms either; between the Combiner Wars and WfC toyline trilogies, I think we will have gotten updated G1 versions of every major character, and most of the obscure ones; even the most hardened GEEWUNNERS such as myself are ready for new designs. (And when I say new designs with the traditional TF look and feel, I'm thinking of stuff like Transformers Cybertron, where even the 'iconic' characters (OP, Megs, Starscream) had VERY different looks than previous versions while still 'feeling' like 'real' Transformers... Cybertron Defense Scattorshot and Hot Shot, for example, don't resemble any G1 characters but ARE absolutely "real" transformers)

One question: does anybody know which Optimus variant is more common? There's a version of OP where the whole face is painted white, with an unpainted area exposing grey plastic underneath for the faceplate highlight, and another version where it's mainly the grey plastic with a white paint highlight on the faceplate. I have both, which I know is ridiculous, and I can't decide which one I like better so all other factors being equal I think I'd rather keep the rarer one. (unless one of y'all is willing to pay a markup for it, LOL)

My local Walmart in Halifax, Ma has this display in the Christmas Aisles - has Bluestreak, Red Alert, Hound, Brunt, Refraktor, Megatron, Soundblaster, Optimus Prime, Springer, Starscream, Thundercracker all in stock. Plenty for all.

I picked up the cell shaded Prime and Megs and I think they look fantastic in person except I ended up only finding one Prime and it has the darker faceplate which I think is the mistake version from the factory. I much prefer the lighter faceplate.

The joints are also MUCH tighter than on my copies of the regular Siege versions and I also find that the cell shaded version of Megatron looks way more premium than the normal release because of the extra paint and he also looks beefier to me. Like the lighter grey makes him look bigger somehow. His hands are painted on this version which I thought was interesting.

I’m sure Prime was supposed to have dedicated artwork for this release like Megs and the factory messed up the box. Having English on the box 5 times instead of 5 different languages is a big clue and I can’t believe that made it to production. They obviously aren’t checking anything at the factory.

Anyway I really like both and I don’t regret getting them at full price even though I already had the regular Siege versions. My 7 year old son went nuts when he saw them and he prefers them to the original releases as well.

I picked up Megatron a few weeks ago and was underwhelmed, to be honest. He just looks so washed out, I didn't think the animation effect flattered the figure. I actually prefer the original, and seeing as how I didn't own the original WFC Megs, I returned 35th anniversary Megatron and picked up original WFC Megatron (at a nice discount, of course ;)  ) (I have had Optimus and Megatron on pre order from Walmart since August and have been waiting on them. I cancelled Megatron when I found him in person, but I never saw Prime in person) So I was a little concerned that I wouldn't like the 35th anniversary Prime, and thought I might wind up returning him too.

I needn't have worried. Prime showed up this week and my lord he's glorious! The robot mode captures the G1 look SO well! I think his vehicle mode looks a bit lacking without the trailer. It doesn't feel substantial enough to me. But that robot mode is really nice, and in that mode he will stay. I also didn't have the original WFC prime, and I'm not going to get him, but I do have Earthrise Prime on order. I think 35th anniversary Prime works great as a one-off, but I'm expecting to pair ER Prime with my other siege figures because the asthetic fits better. But man, I really, really like this figure!

Their only bigger gaffe this year is that Hasbro 'let' BS6 Luke Yavin ceremony out with not 1, but 2 different spelling mistakes... of his name on the packaging.

Wow! I didn’t know about that one. That’s insane.

SS Devastator was not only horrifically mis-transformed at a con recently, but the little card in front of him had his name spelled wrong. Hasbro really gives me the impression that they just don’t give a shit.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I felt seeing Megs. Underwhelmed because the cel shading effect is so subtle that it kinda looks, I dunno, off somehow when you finally do notice it.

OP on the other hand has been done just right and in all the right places. He is so awesome that I broke my own rule about one toy per character and snagged one. Looks like he popped out of a tv screen when you look at him just so.

I put both megs together side by side, and found the 1st release to be the worse offender due to the bird shit all over it... the cell shaded megs just looks cleaner, and pops more.

Funny how he's $30 when only available for pickup only to jump to $40 when they magically find some more to ship. I can't wait for brick and mortar stores to start playing this variable pricing game. I'll never buy another toy in-store again.

So 2 weeks til Christmas and our walmarts in the area apparently have given up on stocking new transformers. No signs of 35th displays anywhere and nothing newer than Wave 4 deluxe/voyager and wave 2 leader
So sick of trying to find stuff in store.
These stores never got the final waves from TR a couple years back either.
