You're right, though, that conversely, an exclusive never gets its own number. So we do know for sure this is a wide release.

 

Maybe 50 is the toy colors of MP-44? I doubt it but I hope we see an announcement who it really is designated for because it seems like they used up 49 to fill that slot for something bigger for #50.

I'm not surprised, just saddened by this.

 

Wait until Takara releases an Energon colors repaint of the upcoming Unicron toy. Then it really would be crying.

 

ONLY way I would maybe consider buying an MP44 repaint......if it were SG Prime.

 

But they are making new molds still. Hound is coming out next month, and Lio Convoy next year. Bumblebee and Blackarachnia have recently been released as well.

Repaints are a given with Masterpiece to recuperate costs. For many, a single use of the mold is not enough to justify making the mold in the first place - in a financial sense. Also a repaint being released has zero effect on new molds being made. It is never a choice between a repaint being released or a new mold being released. The two are completely separate issues. It’s like the difference in reprinting a book with a new cover, and writing an entirely new book.

 

Especially since MP-44 could be had with a trailer for about 325...

MP-10B released without the trailer and at a cheaper price than the standard MP-10 soooooo I'm guessing that trend will hold true for this release as well. At least it should if they are smart anyway.

Why is everyone so bummed or calling this lame? It’s a black convoy redeco. Those things are wicked! And also do not legally contract you to buy them.

 

I’m thinking it’s because it’s too expensive to care about. Like, $100 prime repaint? Sure, but a $400 repaint of yet another prime isn’t exactly exciting at this point.

 

If it is indeed a repaint of MP-44:

1. Why its own number, instead of MP-44B.
2. Too soon for a repaint of MP44.
3. The next high priced MP should be a new big character instead of a repaint.

But this is just my 2 cents.
