Nope, you are wrong. The limbs are fairly toony but mmc's Onslaught is vastly more studioOX based. Which is why it looks so much better when it has the ox parts applied:


The overall set is a mix. Each toy has its different percentages of what it is visually more reminiscent of. Anyone saying its ONLY -X- or ONLY -Y- has it completely wrong. It's a hybrid design and always has been.

MMC's Blastoff transforms in to the studioox shuttle. It does not have the single screen cockpit design like the toon. It's long and narrow not short and wide like the animation.
MMC's Swindle has proportions derived from the StudioOX art, boxier torso, slender arms, bigger calves to also benefit its leg mode.
MMC's Vortex has an alt mode much closer to the StudioOX art than the toon design (which was very egg shaped).

MMC has taken this approach with their mps many times now. Their Springer, their Arcee, their Inferno, their Mirage. All of these toys have not been beholden to any one specific thing. MMC has not to date made an mp that was outside of maybe their Remix tapes I suppose. But even those are scaled differently.

Even Maximus is doing the same, much of the torso transformation and detailing on him is more true to the ox Defensor torso than the toon Defensor torso. That is precisely why it has narrower waist armor whereas animated Defensor had a huge ass skirt.

Hybrids, mixes. This is mmc's thing.

 

I've been seeing clear if the ultra Sunbow stuff myself (the last official MP I bought was maybe Ironhide). But we seem to be a minority.

And no, I don't think it's a captive audience thing. Companies have gone in other directions, including more OX-based stuff, and they just don't seem to sell.

 

Can we get confirmation of the combiner height, with the boots attached? Thanks.

The boots do make it look better. Shit, I wish it was included with Onslaught, Blast Off or Brawl.

It looks like the boots are roughly 3/4", which would put the combined mode from 45cm, up to 47cm (18.5") tall.

No a skirt. In the animation Defensor was drawn with a massive block of armor around his waist and hips. MMC's Def design has smaller waist armor.

 

Why is he so perfect? Looks also like Brawl might have opening hatches on the turret.

Yeah I agree. Cause I’m still not motivated to buy the upgrade kit. But it really works for me.

 

I am guessing they are still working on Brawl, because I don't think anyone wants to see his fists peeking out in combined mode.

I know there's going to be a contingent yelling "but it's not 20 inches!" while muttering something about compromises and pantsforming, but that looks so much closer to my ideal Bruticus that Zeta might as well be Warbotron.

Thanks MMC for putting out product shots the are so close to being done, it really shows me what I want and how I want it.

Well with only two figure out, I just have to assume that the others are just test shots from different stages. I assume Onslaught and Blastoff are ones used to represent potential final products, while Brawl may have been to first test shot to check initial colors by. With that in my head I just assume "Actual products may vary from what is shown."
