As someone who actually owns this amazing figure (I'm looking at it as I type this), IMO you're being way too hard on it. To compare the details you're talking about you'd have to have a freakin magnifying glass. Also, it's plastic so he's not gonna look the same as something that's completely different materials aka metals and many layers of car paint essentially. Also, you're using two different screenshots from two very different scenes where the weathering and lighting is totally different. The figure can't be two looks at the same time.

If you'd prefer a more shiny look and less weathering though I understand that. Not everyone wants the gritty look that 3A goes for, although I personally think they strike a good balance. I don't like that some of the 3P companies are trying so hard to be 3A with their paint though. They're not as good at it and their figures just end up looking dirty half the time.

Fair points you got there, can't argue with that. But please don't get me wrong, I still think the figure is an amazing piece . The first screeshot I used was meant to show where the figure succeeded with the weathering and I wish he would've kept some of that throughout the movie. I'm also aware that 3A probably only uses a certain 3D model for reference and that the movie isn't consistent with the actual CGI character but sometimes the accuracy freak inside me takes over.

I think the details you're critiquing are just the inevitability of being a small scale collectible. I mean the details look pretty sharp to me, just not as sharp as the large-scale CGI model. The weathering also looks more accurate than not, especially on the helmet.

I thought about that too but it's not THAT small. The DLX Bumblebee has quite good detail sharpness being an 8 inch figure so I'm pretty sure that the way Prime turned out was intentional to achieve the rugged look.

I also noticed that the blue color was different in the movie and after doing a little research I came to realize how pointless it is to compare the figure with the character on-screen because the movie isn't consistent with the color. I used some scenes from AoE for reference since the model is basically the same (supposedly).

    comparison 1.jpg
    comparison 2.jpg

Even the actual poster for AoE has him looking that way which makes me think that's the actual concept and that's what 3A has been using for reference.

Even with scenes that are literally moments set apart from each other:
    comparison 4.jpg

He should be the same color as the real life truck (on the right) that seems to have an iridescent coating which does indeed play tricks in certain lighting(not achievable on a plastic figure I think). That effect doesn't seem to be present on the CGI model though or it's just poorly imitated as they ended up changing the shade completely.

Yeah it's really fruitless to compare. Any movie will have color correction and tweaking for every scene, the sizes of the bots will change, the angles will make everything look different, etc plus different layers of dirt and mud and dents and scratches and debris for different scenes, totally different lighting, etc. You're gonna drive yourself (and us) crazy with this deep of an analysis. If you want a knight prime that looks as perfect as it does in the movies you're gonna have to get your hands on some transformium and build it yourself.

Hey, it's a discussion forum, so analysis is fine, but you're just sort of giving yourself an impossible task here...

That starscream looks amazing. I hope the MPM looks half as good! Bee looks so cool and detailed but it's insane to see him the same size as starscream.

I finally got my Prime a few days ago and I must say that even after all this time and with the hype faded, he is still a damn impressive piece.

However, my excitement faded when I realized his left foot is missing a heel piece and one of the pegs that hold the "skirt" pieces between his legs. Also the right leg is loose at the big ball joint that connects it to the crotch.

After contacting customer support, they offered to either send me the missing heel piece to attach it myself or send the whole figure back to them to do it. I wouldn't want to risk messing anything up so I asked if I could just send the foot for repairs, waiting for a reply now.

The easiest way would obviously be just having them send me the piece and glue it myself but if they cover the shipping I might as well just send the whole figure and also have the annoying loose leg fixed. I'm really torn on this.

Has anyone had any of these issues with theirs? How did/would you guys deal with it?

I got mine from ohmyprimus.com for 800 SGD plus 157 SGD shipping. (about 665 euro in total). Not cheap but a good deal considering it's the exclusive edition and the only regular edition I saw available in Europe was around 800 euro (not to mention ebay). Also, Ed (the owner) was very friendly and understanding of my situation with post office customs so he agreed to help me out (if you get my meaning). Ended up paying only about 30 euro customs charges.

What are the odds of Threezero doing DLX scale versions of the Bayverse designs? I was thinking of picking up Premium TLK OP and I have Premium TLK Megs on pre-order through TFSource, but I’ve never had a Premium scale figure and the DLX figs that I own are just perfect. They are the right size and they don’t feel fragile in the slightest. They are even playable. Are the Premium Scale ones the same?

Holy shit, ordered one. One of the most beautiful robot designs made, and it’s mine. @floriol you are a hero. They will declare lower for me too, very nice people at ohmyprimus I must say.

Now I must go and start some auctions to make up for this heh.

I asked Threezero about that or a reissue of Premium TLK Op, but I got only a generic ”watch our social media sites for updates” non-answer.

Really glad I could help you! Just in time to grab the last one in stock heh. I hope yours will have zero QC issues even though Threezero will most likely handle anything. I contacted them about the two missing bits on mine and they'll be sending them to me. I can live with the loose leg for now, maybe I'll try to fix it myself. Don't think it's worth sending back the whole figure for that much.

P.S.: Some of his joints are very thight, especially the feet so you'll have to apply some force to get them moving. Same goes for the waist.

Premium scale of the bayverse designs are what I'm hoping for the most. Ironhide especially. Would be a shame if they skipped those.

TLK Megs and the BB movie line are the first ones to feature that new diecast metal frame so I imagine the premium scale ones will be just as sturdy as the dlx ones. I wish TLK Prime got the same treatment but he's solid nonetheless. As a displayer I prefer the permium scale size as they stand out more and the details seem sharper. I was super impressed with the dlx Bee after handling him, made me want to get the premium one as well that looks to be even more movie accurate, it will make for a great and fun to watch display piece.
