I have both and love both, but I think it's nearly impossible for them to make a Shockwave I won't love.

Does anyone have some back view photos of the MP36+ ?
Does he have a new back, or still the same mess as the original MP36?

    Thank!

There are no engineering changes to MP-36+

What do you mean new back? Are you talking about that upgrade kit? There were no changes done for him.

I meant his design, just not sure if there was any upgrades for this version. I wished that they fixed him a bit to have a cleaner back, or included something to cover. So likely it is just a re-coloured version.

Well it’s retooled in a few aesthetic ways.

I own both MP-36 and MP-36+. Aside from an additional G1 toy style swappable faceplate and chest plate, there is no new tooling.

I really want to get MP36 but finding one in the UK (not on eBay) is proving difficult. Looking like I'll be paying eBay prices ugh

I finally got MP-36+ and I am not disappointed! Such a beautiful piece! So much shiny chrome I'm almost afraid to touch it. The G1 toy deco works well on this design.

I love this version of Megatron, though I have yet to transform him for fear of chipping and scratching. I would LOVE them to do a Marvel version....

Anyone else think MP-29 should’ve been a bit taller???

He is on the thin side to begin with... so an extra cm or two wouldn’t hurt... right?

...i only wish the barrel snugged-in tighter to his waist!..this figure is the only reason i might consider an eventual MP-44+; it truly is glorious to behold...

...definitely, shockwave cut an imposing figure in the fiction and was one of the largest toys in the '84 holiday season: he kind of requires plus-sized interpretation to own his shelf space alongside the other masterpiece figures...

If Future is applied to the chrome, will it dull the finish, anyone try it on their MP-36+?

I did and messed up the chest plate on my first copy: I ended up selling it for cheap and getting a replacement. First, it dulled the chrome a tiny bit. I could tell when I compared it to parts I didn't coat. Second if you put too much of it on, it creates a slightly milky finish, which looks terrible on chrome. I obviously messed up by applying too much, but I suspect applying it properly could still cause it to dull a bit.

Actually if you go back to the toon his height seems about right. There is a YouTube video with just him in his toon scenes and he is shorter than soundwave and slightly taller than Screamer. That places him just right in the current scale. I do agree that instinctively he feels taller but the cartoon scenes are solid in that regard. I think it is due to his barrel chest which like some 5’9’’ guys with big chests in the gym looking like a 6 footer until you go up behind them and you realize they are actually quite a bit shorter.

I just break all the rules and positioned the barrel behind his back vertically like regular MP-36. I like it that way.

MP-29+ looks very nice but I didn't buy it because of his height. Cloud 9 Quake Blast has the deep purple, die-cast, great details and sculpt, and has the height I'm looking for in an MP-style Shockwave. Having said that, if the price is right I might be tempted.
