yeah it is, it was also made a while ago and is tiny so i dont think they could do it now. megatron as a gun is an outdated idea, artillery or tank makes more sense

 

Licensed as in being accurate to a real life gun. Of course it’s an official Hasbro product, just not a licensed Walther product.

The same way we have licensed toys based on actual makes of cars. MP Bumblebee isn’t loosely based on a Volkswagen, he’s an actual Volkswagen licensed from them.

 

No, it's the fault of the so-called """"""pro-gun"""""" culture and the lack of training and discipline police have. Too many people with guns make unsufficiently-trained police have a lose trigger finger when seeing fake guns. Too many careless gun owners getting their guns stolen by children whom then go on to take those guns to school. Hell, even if Hasbro were allowed to make gun toys in any way they want, they probably still wouldn't want to, as there'd be too great of a risk of children with those toys getting shot. If anything, a new, realistic gun toy of any kind shouldn't happen until the USA and countries like it get their act together and train their police better, make firearm thorough training and testing a requirement before purchasing any, and being generally more responsible with the firearms we already own.

It's very dishonest of you blaming it on the people that are actually trying to fix the problem, it's a disservice to the actual pro-gun community.

 

Because hasbro has a current licensing deal Volkswagen. Just like they have licensing agreements with other companies but they also will make cars that are just slightly different because they can’t get the license. jazz is a shining example of that. Porsche will not allow their cars to be made hence why there has never been and possibly never will be an MP jazz and if they wanted to make a new ER jazz he will be like the RTS jazz where he looked like a Porsche but wasn’t. He was a hybrid of a Porsche and a Pontiac solstice essentially making a new kind of car that dodges IP.

 

you’re right it’s the cops fault some asshole took a G1 Megatron and pretended to use it as a real gun and actually threatened to kill someone with it which lead into a standoff. That actually happened 20 years ago.

that example right there is why toys can’t look like realistic guns. Not cops, nut jobs.

 

A nut job doing a thing doesn't erase all the times cops accidentally shot children that had toy guns. Clearing ourselves of responsibility isn't that easy, I'm afraid.

Cool! I already liked where ER Prime's front wheels end up in bot mode & thanks to you I see there is precedent for that already.
Also, the Repair arm drone looks like the rocket pack in your 2nd pic.

I wonder if there will be any 3rd party gear (like energon axe) made for ER Prime?

I just saw the video review by TonTon, and by Primus, I REALLY love his transformation, especially the way his chest formed, my only gripe is I keep getting distracted by the unbalance split of the port on his legs, I wonder if we can cut it and still attach the trailer in truck mode?

Other than that, this OP for me is PERFECT, I really love every aspect of him. Shame he didn't come with an axe, but that's what my Targetmaster is for.

 

The last non MP Megs I remember being a gun was the Classics one that looked like a nerf revolver but it wasnt great.

 

There was a Legends gun Megatron in the Universe 2.0 line.

 

I liked the Classics Megatron. I liked the Takara version better but the Hasbro wasn't bad for the hoops they had to jump through.

That said, there are plenty or examples of Hasbro making a pretty decent G1 looking Megatron bot-mode out of a grey tank. And, with the effort they seem to have put into Prime, I'd say they could do the same with an Earth Rise Megatron.

Maybe he'll have a gunmetal helmet and blue hands just to annoy everyone. And they'll design the wrists so that simply swapping the hands between Prime and Megatron will be impossible just to generate angst.

 

I really think the salad tongs are uncalled for...unless they are blue...
