Newage and Magic Square seem to have risen to the top relatively quickly. These Seekers look like a massive leap ahead of the current legend efforts but they also have to benefit of evaluating what came before it.

I'll be grabbing these for sure.

I am pretty confident that the designers for Magic Square and NewAge have been around for quite some time in the third party world. These two companies *are* the current legends scale efforts along with Iron Factory offering up their unique aesthetic.

I’m excited to see what reveals NewAge has in store in December. If last year was any indication, we may see their plans for most of 2020.

It's crazy how my eyes are instantly drawn to the IF one. Still, a nice looking figure from Newage!

I like how the NA one is skinnier than the DX9 one, but I like bots to be closer in size than their alt-modes would suggest.

Sigh, wish someone would KO the IF one at the same scale since it appears to be the only way I'll get it. LOL

Still liking what I'm seeing with the NA one. Scale works for me with Megatron. I skipped their Datsun Bros. Too small for me. He'd work fine with my mix of MST and IF bots if I go this way.

Cool -- they're closer in size than I than I thought they would be based on an earlier comparison pic! :D

Kinda wish they painted the intakes so the match would be perfect with the chest though. Always hated the mismatch on the DX9 versions; NA is nowhere near as bad as that -- in fact, it's not bad at all -- but I can notice it. Also wish they sides of the upper arms (where the null rays attach) didn't have those hollow bits. Might have to try to fill those in.

    edit: fixed misspelling.

I think I realized why I dislike these.

All other NA figures have Sunbow faces. These have MP.

I'm sure this was mentioned prior but can't find it, so I'm sorry for asking this again...which company did Newage spawn from? Or rather, which company is using Newage as a different line to release toys?

Designers that left DX9 are now part of NA.

The theory is that New Age is the evolution of the DX9 legends game.

When was this revealed? I thought NA denied a link to DX9 on weibo or something. (Not that I didn't take that denial with a pretty big grain of salt.)

Yes, DX9 stated on Weibo that they are not related to New Age.

Designers leaving was divulged to me in discussions with insiders. Evidently there was discontent over the lull in DX9 legends, so they said F it and made their own company, with blackjack and, wait..

So, that probably explains why DX9 is so short on the topic. Their tiny talent is printing money while they're still banging away at the MP market.

Ah, so the speculation was correct all along. Color me shocked!

    Or not . . .

    :lol

PS I thought it was NA that denied the connection on weibo. But I might be misremembering.

Okay, those pictures are MUCH better. He's not as huge as I thought he'd be and pretty much in line with everyone else. So much happier with these pictures, and thanks for sharing!

IIRC the whole DX9 speculation came about because they used the DX9 Prime as a prop in some of their photoshoots.

I think the designer of the Newage stuff is actually a guy known by the handle ‘JizaiToys’, who was also the designer of the Fansproject Function-X Headmasters back in the day. He was definitely behind the Newage Ironhide, at least (he posted photos of the prototypes years ago) and as far as I’m aware he never did anything for DX9.

Oh cool! I remember those old Jizai toys kits/scratch builds. Nice to hear that they carried on in the hobby.

That was part of it, but it was much more than that.

For example, NA used DX9's Dinobots, Seekers, and Constructicons in addition to Dutch. And they used these bots not only in promo shots, but on their packaging as well. Then there's also the fact that NA use the very same Ark diorama in their marketing shots that DX9 used. And the fact that DX9 and NA very similar, Diaclone inspired boxart, with each line referring to their bots as "Legendary Heroes." And the fact that DX9's Legends line flatlined once NA kicked into highgear. And . . . well, you get the picture. ;)

None of that is dispositive but it's quite a lot fuel for speculation!

Preordered the three seekers! I have never bought a legend class figure before, but imo Newage have managed to give us a very nice looking realistic alt-mode and a toony robot mode, so I have to give in lol.
