They've used the term 'vibroblade' for decades now in the books. Always just seemed like a way for the author to 'sci-fi' up a knife. Death by vibrator.

 

Yeah, actually seeing a virboblade vibrate was interesting. They had them in TCW but they didn't actually vibrate, they just looked like normal blades.

 

Vibroblades in Star Wars are funny because they were often mentioned but rarely shown working. If a character had a vibroblade it looked like a regular sci-fi styled blade. I gather it was harder to show in old games or static comic book art.

 

The inner child in me that loved Star Wars all day and everyday came out in the final fucking battle. Nothing I’ve ever seen in a Star Wars movie has been that fucking awesome.

As if I didn’t already love Faverau and Filoni. God, can you imagine if they made a trilogy together? Everybody in the theater would constantly be creaming their pants.

 

That’s exactly what I said the other day. I don’t think anything made me feel the level of joy I felt as a child like the 3rd episode. Closest I can think of is when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon ignite they’re lightsabers in TPM. When I first saw that in the theatre after decades I was in love all over again and PT never recaptured it a second time for me. But you know even to hit it once is impressive. I hope Mandalorian can keep this up.

Episode three was great. Show is excellent and releasing them weekly is a masterstroke. So much better than the binge model.

the kid's cuteness

. Love the throwbacks to old Westerns and feels almost like Lone Wolf and Cub. The setup to the last scene reminded me of John Wick with the tracking fobs alerting all the bounty hunters, but that end fight scene certainly put a big smile on my face. I never saw any of the Clone War episodes, but this one episode helped expand the worldview and culture of the Mandolarians.

Can't wait for the next episode!

 

It was only super noticeable in the shot of him aiming it at the mudhorn, but even then it kinda looked like depth of field.

I hope you don't mind my taking this part out of spoiler tags. Are Boba and Jango actual Mandalorians? Or do they just wear Mandalorian armor?

 

Currently, they just wear the armor. I know this bothered some other Fett fans, but it doesn’t really make a difference to me. It doesn’t change the fact that it all starts with Boba, and the great design work of Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston.

The development of the SW universe proved the pacifist New Mandalorian ideals to be wrong anyway. Well-intentioned, but misguided. By the time of SW Rebels they'd end wiped by the Empire.

 

All I'm saying is, maybe there's a reason the whole Jet Pack thing didn't work out.  

This episode confirms a lot of things heavily implied by the first chapter.

The "Purge" in which the Mandalorians lost much of their Beskar was perpetrated by the Empire. Our Mando's reluctance to accept Imperial Credits was out of moral obligation as much as it was financial.

Herzog's character also paid Carl Weathers in Beskar, which means he likely has a lot more than even the princely sum he gave the Mandalorian.

I was happy to see his fellow Mandos come to his aid. Wasn't sure if they would care more about the Beskar or the foundling.

This episode also confirms that the tracker is in the Child, not in his hover-pram. Which begs the question, how does a baby [Yoda's Species] find itself in the middle of nowhere on a desert planet, guarded by 30 heavily armed mercenaries, and with an Imperial tracker inside of it?

Also, I hope Mando still gets out to Mon Cala for that one job...

 

Just binged all three eps in a row. This show has single handidly reignited my desire for new star wars. It's a fantastic show, well made, without the episodes overstaying their welcome. I haven't watched the clone wars, but episode 3 made me want to know more about Mandalorian culture. I hope we get to learn more as the series goes on.
