I’ve seen a lot of people thinking about getting mp-44 but worried about getting a copy with the knee breakage. Speaking as someone who did get a copy with the knee issue, I actually wouldn’t worry about that issue too much.

I think most of us that had the knee issue were early on (had mine on preorder and got it as soon as it was released) and I haven’t really seen people having the issue recently. Obviously correct me if I’m wrong, but it feels like TT fixed the issue during production.

Even if you had the knee issue, the fix isn’t horrendous. And MP-44 is an absolutely incredible looking/posing/transforming figure despite the insane price.

Purchased on day 1 and both knees are still working like they were designed to.
I’ve transformed my copy at least 5-6 times. I always mind the way that I bend it’s knees, always engaging the primary/upper ratchet first before engaging the secondary/lower knee ratchet.

IIRC the way it was designed, it was always meant to bend a specific way(mentioned in a designer interview a while back) regardless of where you tried to bend the leg first. So for people breaking it, it's not so much user error but possibly a design/material change between prototype to final design with Takara not realizing the components may fail until the toy was actually released.

i think you wrote that backwards. Upper joint first, then lower.

I'm just a little iffy about the whole "Bend at the knee right so you can be safe" thing. Is that still a thing or has it been long enough for people to try and say It's not as bad as we initially thought?

I just have and LOVE him, but I haven't posed him in a while, but everything else is solid.

And this question is for anyone, where's the best/ cheapest place for someone in the US to get this dude nowadays? I had him preordered, but didn't find a decent job until September, so I had to cancel.

I think the people saying it are the ones that haven't had it broken yet and/or didn't do the preemptive fixes shown in the Radicons thread.

I'm tempted to get the reprolabels for mp-44 during their current sale. I won't put anything on prime himself (except maybe some minor accent stickers) but the trailer has a fair amount of stickers for the interior.

It's not cartoon accurate, but I've never been a fan of base modes that lack any sort of visual cues. It is toy accurate though, so there's that.

Yup, I’m one of those people who canceled my preorder.

I think some of the other factors were people had a lot scuffs on his hip skirts, and the big kicker for me was his bent ears. I almost want to wait for a whole new reissue to see if they do anything about those ears.

Knees on both my copies are still fine and the ears can be easily straightened by hand, they're not even an issue. The only real issue I've had is the grey paint. Scrapes off so easily. Highly recommend clearcoating his toes, ribs, and maybe his yellow crotch bits for good measure, too. Other than that, I just can't get over this figure. Can't stop looking at him, posing him, switching him up with all his gimmicks/accessories, all his trailer/Roller/gunship configurations... endless fun. Childhood dream come true.
