I still find it weird how Impetus has a perfectly normal bicep swivel on his left arm but the right one barely moves. I guess cause it’s more accurate to the helicopter or something, but it seems like a bit of an oversight to me.

 

Oh wow I never even noticed till you've pointed it out. I wouldn't say barely though it can do a full 90 inwards axis rotation. And yes it appears to be entirely down to the helicopter specific sculpting resulting in asymmetrical shoulder pieces. Full rotation on the right would demand less tail sculpt accuracy for the chopper.

Ironic considering the number 1 criticism of him and Fraudo has basically boiled down to "I wanted these toys to look like scale models and not animated characters".  

 

Oh well yeah that’s true, the inwards movement is good on both. It just feels so weird when I just wanna sit down and play but I can’t move it the way I want to. And considering the secret tricks that actually make him move and convert in a smooth manor I’m a bit surprised nothing was though of. But it’s a small area to work in so I don’t blame them.

 

Its the entire story of this set and what makes it so interesting. Very specific design considerations for specific features have been major factors in everything about how it looks and works and that's naturally lead to a lot of very divisive and severe criticism for so much of that unavoidable aesthetic.

Makes me wonder what people are going to think of Brawl, because every one of these toys has an aspect to them that's like huh, that's a little odd looking? don't usually see that with mps etc.

Meanwhile I'm over here chewing on my fingers waiting for gorilla arm to end all gorilla arms Helex to finally see production.

up to now, which do you like better, MMC Vortex or Swindle?

 

Just got my Fraudo today (you get what you pay for with free shipping). Thoughts and comparisons with UT and Zeta to come.

 

I like Swindle

 

Zeta is only good for combined mode. UT is only good for crying about because it didn't end up being as tall as Zeta when combined.

 

They're all good for having all of the Bruticuses. Brutici?

 

Well yeah, if that's your bag. I just remember some people actually thinking the UT set was going to be 20" tall.

 

Well I can’t tell yet, but I think I’m gonna like Fraudo slightly more. The playability he has and chonk value is so appealing to me.

 

Did Fraudo have different packing some places than others? I see pictures of his box with a clear piece showing him in alt mode but others in a solid box and he comes in robot mode. Mine came in bot mode in a solid box with no window.

 

Yes. If you buy from Asian markets or like me, Ebay, MMC stuff comes in robot mode.

I messed with my Swindle/Frodo last night and damn. That transformation is a pain in the ass. The instructions miss steps and make you go all over the place. There are these little tabs that lock the legs and allows them to extend or compress. Make sure you see them. They are NOT in the instructions.

Other than that I do like how he looks in robot mode. Jeep mode is okay. I do like the color.

 

Of all the things to be omitted those are by far the most egregious given they are mandatory for locking and unlocking a major feature of how the legs work at all.

And with youtube having profited off of illegal child marketing resulting in government crackdown on media potentially viewed by children on the worlds biggest video platform pretty much killing toy reviews come January 1st the future of 3p toys being able to be transformed correctly is bleak until another video service manages to replace youtube in some capacity but mannnnnn are all the alternatives really really shit right now.

 

Not to get too far off topic but I wonder if 3P reviewers can't just mark their videos as Not For Kids and continue forward as normal? That should theoretically exclude them from legal risk since they are explicitly saying their videos are not for kids.

 

They unfortunately can't, it's a toy, no matter how expensive, it looks the same as a kids toy to the FTC, and if you (in their eyes) falsely label it as "not for kids" you can be fined up to $40,000 per video. Some people foolishly think "but the video itself isn't meant for kids, and I'll just swear a bunch now" but the issue is if it looks like something that will attract kids, the FTC deems it kid-friendly.

 

Sooooooo----instructions that don't suck isn't an option?? Or is that so far outside the realm of possibility that discussing YouTube alternatives is the only discussion worth having?

Paik4Life does the instruction videos for a lot of the MMC stuff, and it's not inappropriate. If we subscribe to the channel we should be able to find this one easy, right? I don't see why these videos would be banned.
