When I think of something "aging like fine wine", I tend to not think of anything less than 10-years old. Also, a good chunk of the stuff released in the last five years hasn't "aged", it's just not the latest.

For something that's aged well, I'd say Cybertron Leader Optimus. While I like the Siege line, the original Cybertron mold absolutely crushes the update in looks and quality.

I also second the Cyberjets. They're good by any modern standard.

This. I have all original CyberJets and if these figures didn't come with old style stickers they'd feel like modern Legends class. Even better in a few departments. Light piping, retractable landing hear, nice feel to the plastic.

Car Robots 2000 / RID Super Fire Convoy/ Optimus Prime. (yes there are faults, but hes just badass. I've held onto him and Magnus since original release)

G2 Optimus Prime. Yes he's essentially the G1 brick, but I really really like the black trailer and the heavy duty weapons.

I still love Classics Optimus. It's so solid and the range of motion in the articulation is still fantastic. Plus, it's an update that I actually enjoy, whereas most CHUG updates just a couple of years later started looking way too kibbly and messy. I'm tempted to just stick with that one instead of getting the Earthrise one. That one is very nice looking, and extremely G1, but I doubt it will be as solid as the Classics one.

I think I like Classics Megatron more than Siege as well. Design wise he takes more liberties, but I prefer his proportions (I hate how squat the Siege one is), and his joints are all nice and tight. Plus I love transforming him, and while it's not G1 accurate, I love the color scheme in a G2-era kind of way.

I feel like most of the original classics have held up fine over time, some minor articulation quibbles notwithstanding. We've gotten so deep into the GeeWun Redone lineage to the point where so many specific design cues that helped old characters stand out in a new way are being blindly ignored in favor of little more than "G1 with knees". I never cared about Blurr before the Generations figure came out, whether the base figure was good or not I like Universe Ironhide because he felt more at home being a truck instead of a van, RTS Jazz was just plain perfect so I see no reason to replace him, and both Classics Optimus and Megatron have so many design cues that give them a lot more visual presence than most iterations to follow.

Hmm, this has me thinking hard.

    -TFP Wheeljack for sure.
-Foc Shockwave; Holds up great when most of the line doesn't.
-Classics Cyclonus; what an absolute treat of a figure.
    -G2/BWII Starscream/Smokescreen and Dreadwing/BB.
    -TFA Battle Begins Prime

    Ebay:
    -G2 Laser Optimus/RID Scourge
-RID Rail Racer, Gigatron, and Omega Prime(with the realization that Ultra/God Magnus really is an accessory to Fire Convoy and doesnt have the best robot on his own), and Prowl- my favorite of the autobot trio and the best proportions of the 3.
-Armada Cyclonus- Best minicon integration in my opinion, great early figure in that line and fine representation of the gimmick and what it could be.
    Also Armada Bendy Prime.
    -Most of the Cybertron toyline
    -Classics Voyager Optimus.
I am not going to look much 2006-07.

Can’t we just hug it out?

    Of course :D

But I have grown to appreciate them more and more over time. And they’re old, so they definitely count as aged.

LG G2 Hero Megatron. He’s even more impressive if you put him next to Siege figures. His picture on the TFwiki even has a Thanos quote.

OP Classics (Ultimate battle) is a Prime that I know does not get much love, but for me, I will always consider this mold to be probably one of the best ever made.

It's alt mode isn't the best, he is a bit small, and his gun isn't the standard gun but still is interesting enough.

But the robot mode is amazing.. the articulation is great, the transformation is easy and fast. No kibble at all. He's made with great plastic so he's still solid after a lot of punishment.

Until Siege, there was no other Prime that I considered it's equal, and even then for all the points that Siege has gained, the transformation of Siege loses some for the difference in complexity.
