How do you feel about Transformers having bars. Is it too human? Fine? I find it too human. Then again what is too human and what is not?

I don't think it's any stranger than the idea that they drink ... anything.

The concept of Transformers is already human by itself. Fundamentalist robotics don't require them having arms and legs at all.

I don’t mind them having politics, but it should be different from ours.

I'm fine with it, they got drunk in the 80s cartoon so I don't see how anyone can object to it.

I dislike politics in the comics ( especially Orion Pax and Megatron etc being senators)... As for bars, I agree it is too human.

They drink at Maccadam's since Marvel UK G1. Not the brightest writing idea, but it's a tradition. Sometimes gets far too much focus, though.

No they should have none. They're robots.

In that case they shouldn’t have emotions since that robots don’t have them. They’re robots, but they’re living sentient beings too. Although I don’t care for politics, so those things should be kept at the sideline. And let’s have them not think for themselves either. Robots shouldn’t do that.

It's a wierd tradition owing to the influence of marvel UK. Honestly I love it. It's unquestionably a transformers thing at this point.

Then we have to wonder how the war started? Politics has to come in play to split the Cybertronians into the separate factions.

    I'm also joking.

One thing about Transformers, you have to keep a balance. Having them being too human makes them boring.

You forgot a few things: 1) a minimum 1 page rant about how you don't like shipping; 2) another minimum one page rant about Windblade, or anything that shared a book with Windblade; 3) an angry rant about how Roberts touched your franchise and your mom and possibly your dog in an inappropriate manner; 4) something something Hasbro meddling.

    I'm joking, of course.

To answer the prompt: One of the few things to explore a purely machine society was the Geth from Mass Effect. While they did at least provide a plausible basis for internal conflict, it was all generally reliant on external factors. The Geth were first oppressed by their creators, then subsequently bamboozled by ANCIENT SPACE ROBOT SQUID MONSTERS FROM AN UNFATHOMABLE BEYOND. This showcases how horribly boring a "pure machine race" can be when you're just watching them operate in normal course.

If the Transformers are to be any kind of relateable and thus appeal to a general audience, they gotta do relateable things. It's the same concept as the Mos Eisley cantina - that bar setting is shorthand for "wretched hive of scum and villany" and gets us into the story immediately. Otherwise we end up going the Dune route and having to dump five pages of exposition as to why The Flurbithangn, having never evolved opposable thumbs, cannot hold a beer mug and therefore never developed bars in their culture and thus do not intoxicate socially but instead flop about in a concentrated puddle of Borbdignangnag vomit and invite close friends and relatives or whatnot to watch.

While potentially fascinating in its own right to watch an author engage in "show, don't tell" world building, the story does have to go somewhere at some point and time is in fact money. So rather than waste an entire book watching robots jam tubes in a body hole and dump liquid fuel into themselves while they make modem noises at one another MIGHT be more apropos, it's also boring, not fun to look at and generally uninspired.

And that's why we have Transformers bars.

I think Dune's just more of a product of it's time than anything else. The story summaries and detailed review videos I've seen of it make the books sound absolutely fascinating. However the prose in the Dune books are purpler than the Grimace slamming grape soda in an eggplant processing plant to me.
