'Bait-and-switch'? They never said he'd have blue hands, it was only the EARLY RENDERS that showed such. Those leaked photos had blue metallic paint, different from the rest so it was most likely costumed.

Legends Springer definitely wasn’t faithful to the source material, both companies make mistakes and it annoys me how often people praise Takara when comparing their figures to Hasbro’s because it’s obvious the different price points make the figures very different.

They are. But its something they couldve given the fandom. Would you have demanded for grey hands? No. So no one would be arguing. It is not just Prime, the entire wfc zbros were terribly colorblocked. Prime was just another example of this pervasive problem.

    Oh god no...
In all honesty the figures looked cool but their creepy portrayal in the comic started giving me kiss players flashbacks. Especially the part where one of them used that weird pheromone ability.

Early Renders huh. The early renders used on websites for pre-orders? That's exactly my point. This "argument" between fans would have happened earlier if they would have shown the product sooner. Judging from this thread, some people would have cancelled pre-orders based on this change.

I really don't understand why you're so dead-set on telling everyone who dislikes the change that they're wrong. Again, if you like it, that's great. But some people don't like the change and that's their prerogative.

When have primes lower legs ever been anything but blue ? Shades of blue is not my argument here. Bad choices when gang molding is my argument. How do you screw up on the flagship character ? Its not like forgetting the deco of some obscure character.

If we’re brainstorming, they could have omitted the drone altogether and released it as a separate robot (maybe with Roller) and used the spare budget on blue hand plastic.

On that note: if the hand IS on a mushroom peg, maybe they could release a Roller which uses the exact same hands in blue?
If Takara had agency, they’d have charged $20 more and molded the hands blue and painted the flood lights and arm details yellow and made all the plastic about 7 shades more fluorescent.
It’s partly because, for me, blue hands are as important as chest windows. As I said, I’d have considered blue legs and trailer to get blue hands. It’s like Batman with bare hands. Over the years, I’ve bought Optimuses that deviated but every one I bought had blue hands. To me, Armada Prime hits a mark that this one misses because of the blue hands.

There’s also an uncanny valley quality here. It looks accidental because it comes so close and then swerves away from the third or fourth most iconic thing for me after the chest windows, the head crest, and the mask.

I’m not saying OTHERS can’t enjoy it. The hip shape bothers me a little too. So does the lack of yellow paint on the center crotch and the floodlights. Congratulations! I have Siege Optimus who hits the points that this misses for me. It’s not a tragedy but I’ll buy this mold at a higher price point with a bit more care applied to the deco if Hasbro is listening.

I bought this on a tricky-to-refund preorder after the blue hands pics surfaced. Hopefully I can flip it for $75 to cover outbound shipping and selling fees. I’m happy if it makes people happy but I would buy a more premium, NON-CEL SHADED deco again because of how close this mold comes. Otherwise, Siege Optimus stays on my shelf.
Agreed fully on this. Saying, “Yuck! I’ll stick with Siege until a redeco comes along!” is not trashing people who like this. It’s personal preference and a little nod to Hasbro to offer a premium deco of this instead of just moving on to the next slightly askew take.

It's just a preference. Just because you don't care doesn't mean others don't. And it's got nothing to do with being a G1 purist... well, for me it doesn't. The robot just looks better with blue hands. Like preferring a mold because it has a nice paint job.

While I understand what your saying, I just cant defend poor choices when gang molding. This wasnt about saving money upon design. This was a poor choice when creating the mold that should have been rectified before mass production. Primes look is iconic. It shouldnt be tampered with by accident and not rectified. How much would it have cost Hasbro to reverse-mold just the fists to make a mold the created 20 sets of fists each injection ? The KO guys do it all the time and sell figures half price and still turn a profit.

Studio Series (Bumblebee movie) had black hands and I got used to it. Blue hands would look more fitting and it\'s especially irksome considering he has blue hands on the back of the box, but hey, it doesnt stop the figure looking great overall and you never know, you might be able to swap his fists with the siege figure.

I Just think his proportions are wack. The Truck mode looks dope though. I think I’ll stick with Siege however.

Ok well help me understand you point ?
Are you saying people who dont want Primes iconic deco tampered with ignorant ?

And as far as the yellow eyes go, maybe Seige Ironhide/Ratchet dont need heads either ? Hasbro needs to make up their mind. Are they going toon or toy for this trilogy ? Shouldnt Prime of all characters set the bar ?

Victorion is a completely new character so Takara took the opportunity to use the mold as a female Decepticon Combiner instead. The image you posted is amusing as it shows giant robots acting like anime girls; but it shouldn’t be taking seriously. The “reverence” was referring to the characters color schemes, not their actions. Japan is gonna be Japan after all.
