Just got my second SS Scrapmetal to join the devastator combined crew. Quick question though as it doesn’t appear to point it out in the manual - what is the correct orientation of Hightower’s socket joint for Scrappy to plug into? Is it meant to be rotated out as far as possible towards the crane tower or left lower down? This would obviously affect how scrap tower plugs in as it alters which side of the socket he would plug into.

Still toying around with my Prime issue..
(no prime that really is in scale with the Studio Series bots) So I took 6 mm out of the width of the “ultimate” Optimus prime.. that was his main issue in vehicle mode and it is a good start.

now all I need to solve is the robotmode, his arms (with the fenders hanging off)
and his feet, the fender that is on his arm needs to move over to the heel.

And then it will be the paint that needs a makeover and perhaps I will trim down his trailer as well, it is way to wide (more leaderclass width)

 

Bombusbee's Long Haul disappoints me. Resembles the old voyager figure too much  

 

I actually really like the leg mode on this guy. But then again I wasn't a fan of the ss's leg mode so it prolly has more to do with that

 

I really like him instead, maybe because I have seen the movies only twice and I can't remember the cgi models or altmodes models so good...
AnywayI would like to see paint and scale with mpms. Maybe I could get him as stand alone character (i think him and mixmaster had a part as single character in ROTF, didn't they?)

 

Eh... yeah. This one looks overly fiddly. Meanwhile despite the backpack the Studio Series one literally jumped right off the screen, perfect match for the CGI.

Hasbro basing most of Studio Series directly off ILM-provided models really shows. 3rd parties may be able to do higher parts counts and more paint apps, but they will never beat Hasbro's sculpts. Just look at Peru Kill's head vs. Studio Series Lockdown's.

 

The leg mode is cool for sure, but it’s the wrong truck mode and the bot mode has bad proportions just like the old toy. I’m not a fan.

Yeah definitely agree here. If UT could be hired by Hastak to make MPMs the world would be a better place.

 

I love the scale of that long haul as evidenced by the truck mode. A single bot that size would truly terrify me before he even combines

 

What do you all think will come next after the Studio Series line ends?

Yeah looks like they used RotF Voyager as the base, added some details, and modded it to have a foot mode.

 

More MPMs hopefully, at least four per year. I really DON'T like the idea of there being two a year because most of us will be dead or in our fiftys by the time we get the cool AOE/TLK designs.

Thought that new SS Bumblebee would be my definitive one but I really hate how they’ve handled the cannon. Much prefer the alt arm piece on the earlier SS and TLK models. Here’s hoping for an improvement on a RotF/ DotM version then.
