What price would be reasonable to you at this point since they seem so scarce?
I wonder if they already have another release for it planned or will just stick to new versions for awhile?

 

Take into account their previous DX Macross releases. How soon did they or if they ever reissued a Valk? Pretty much all I can think of was the VF-25 but that was a while ago. Maybe in a few years or maybe next year but as a bundle with TV fast packs?

 

Yeah If they're going to do it a bundle with valk, missiles, and boosters would make sense.

 

My guess is the next 1J release will be with GBP but they do seem to like milking it by making everything separate so maybe they release GBP and rerelease the Valk around the same time.

 

As much as I dislike Bandai's "a la carte" approach with the DX VF-1, now that I've gotten on that horse, I really hope that they release the GBP as a separate set. No interest in buying a second VF-1J just for the armor. Don't care that the googles aren't gray.

 

I almost hope they don’t go too deep because I would be “forced” to buy them all and I’d rather keep some of my money to eat and stuff like that.  

 

IIRC, almost a year or more for the ones that were rereleased. DX VF-25F Renewal got rereleased once or twice, DX YF-29 Alto got rereleased at least twice. Forgot if the VF-25S Ozma Renewal had a rerelease, I thought it did.

DX VF-1J Hikaru is a guaranteed seller, only a matter of time in my view. Plus if the DX VF-1A Max was retooled like I think it was(keep forgetting to check my J), then there's another reason to rerelease it.

Historically the Hikaru VF-1J/S and Roy VF-1S tend to be rereleased more often than the other variants.

 

I figure - Alto’s 25 was reissued once I think. Alto’s 29 has been reissued three times. Messer/Hayate’s 31J got the movie reissue (or was it the 31F?).

if they’re going to reissue a “hero” VF, the VF-1J seems like a good choice. But I also wouldn’t expect to see a reissue until they’ve gotten several more out.

 

The 29 three times? I just find that ugly but I'm in the minority then.

 

Just a few more days for DYRL VF-1S! I'm more stoked about this than any other Valk. Now...when will I actually get mine shipped? Who the hell knows, but I'm one step closer.

 

From NY? Next year. Lol! I'm keeping an eye if any come up at retail. I was looking at some YJA listings and some would note there that they got it from AmiAmi. You MOFOs...

 

Yeah let's be vigilant. I'm going to try and score at least two more at retail. I have one for sure from NY that was $260 ($306 with the overpriced EMS). I have a feeling that this one will be as expensive as the 1J has become at the very least. It could go higher. So, I'll likely sit on my NY one or sell it at my cost if out of the gate the aftermarket goes higher than my cost. At least someone who doesn't land could get it for cheaper than current value (if it works out that way). At the moment, I haven't seen it drop below what I paid yet. Otherwise, I'll sit on it for like 6 months until I can offload at cost.

 

Based on what I've been reading on the DX VF-1 thread on MW, Roy's 1s should be widely available (and reasonably priced) as Hikaru's 1s gets snapped up very quickly as he gets more screen time than is his sampai (Hikaru is the main primary character from the series. Roy is possibly the secondary main character?).

When the DX VF-1J M&M versions gets released, for sure that it will be more of a demand outside Japan.

I wouldn't say Roy's 1S will be "widely available" just because Hikaru's is more popular in Japan. We can all hope though. 

 

Yeah, I think the pitfall of these boards can be a bunch of fanboys (and girls) who pontificate. It's like fans do of the NFL in the States. All of a sudden everyone is an expert while I'm scratching my head going at what point did you work for the NFL again? It doesn't bother me, because it's just a symptom of loyal fans. I just take things with a grain of salt, and when someone puffs their chest at me I do my best to disengage simply because A) I'm no expert by any means either and B) it's not worth the energy to argue over Macross (or football) haha.

Personal opinion is that we can hope for that with Roy, but I'm not sure that line of logic at MW necessarily holds water like @Slave IV is also suggesting. If history shows anything, I believe the first Roy will be DYRL based on the release of Strike Parts in Dec/Apr with Roy's call sign. And looking at HMR, Roy was released as a TWE so maybe there's hope there? That would seem to make him more accessible even if marked up on price slightly. However, if DYRL Hikkie 1A is released as a TWE bundle with Strike (cuz what are they doing with his 011 piece since it's not in the current Strike release), then does that impact Roy as a TWE possibility?

It's fun to speculate and sees who guesses right, if anyone.

 

I like the 29’s design as a kind of half step between the 25 and 31 (at least, Delta Squad’s 31 variants; the standard 31 doesn’t have the forward-swept wings like the 19). I’ve heard the figure is pretty good, but I generally prefer to avoid multiples of the same mold, and haven’t been able to decide on which of the available color schemes I like best.
