Agreed. The metallic white, along with the dark gray was a significant reason to buy this version. Why ruin it with the silver?

Ooohhh, is it a metallic white?
I didn't really look closely enough last night when transforming them, but a nice pearlescent look would be really cool!
I really liked the way Takara gave Inferno that toon accurate bumper with the pearlescent white/grey colour. Gives a really nice nostalgic toon vibe to it. I repainted the chrome on my Ironhide and Ratchet's in a similar colour, and used it again in place of the chrome on my repainted G1 Insecticons. I will gradually be replacing ALL the chrome on my MP's with that, as well as painting all the windows a nice cell-shaded blue (or grey for season 2 bots).

It's not a popular opinion among a small segment of the community, but for me, it's toon nostalgia all the way. I never collected or even really liked the G1 toys and have zero interest in the old Marvel comics, so for me at least, Transformers is 100% cartoon based, and I have zero room for any other influences in my collection.
But luckily... options... alterntaives... like what you like... yadda yadda yadda.

It's one of the things I like about the NewAge Legends figures as well, they've gone for flat colours rather than shiny silver (or worse - chrome).

X-Transbots Aegis (Trailbreaker) and Paean (Hoist) not joints. But silver accessories. This isn't a swap, this is just the VLE V2 edition

I guess I should have used different wording, by joints I meant the forearms, thighs. By weapons I meant the shoulder mounted force field generator and arm cannon. Those are all silver on the v1. I wanted to see if someone installed those silver parts on the v2.

Ahh got it. I have a v1 and don't plan on swapping parts.

    Some annoyances with this guy:
    • The 2 red parts that screw together on the right thigh are 2 different shades of red
    • Red paint on the right knee has a paint chip (Think I can go over it with a few dabs of Tamiya red)
    • 2 paint scrapes in the grey area of both wrists when I tried transforming him (I'm pretty gentle, but this is why I don't like transforming my bots)
The knees were a bit loose which I hope is fixed when I tightened the screws and the backpack leaves 2 small gaps on the top of the backpack when you tab in the small tabs to the small holes on his back.

With that said, I'm pretty happy with the look and feel of Aegis. Dark grey looks fine to me and I don't really notice the white parts through his chest windshield like I thought I would. I really won't be using any of the accessories, but they all seem to be a very nice touch. Definitely recommended! I'm looking forward to the updated Paean.

Just got mine today (VLE version! Yay!) and I agree with those points. Really don’t like the white shoulder joints, they stand out too much in bot mode. Otherwise it’s a nice bot.

I got mine today and I love him. I never had Trailbreaker as a kid so I only knew his cartoon form, which this is an awesome representation of.

I was surprised how much weight he had when I opened the box. Transformation was pretty straightforward and the first bot that I can say I’ve really enjoyed transforming in a while. He looks great on my shelf and is another reminder that I need to order a bunch of symbols for all my bots lol.

Just got mine today, first time dealing with an XTB release and I'm pretty impressed. The transformation went pretty smoothly for me barring a few confusing parts in the instructions. He fits infairly seemlessly with the rest of my MP figures so thumbs up from me. The paint is really nice, no flaws that I can see. The white is just like the pearlescent colour on the Fuso figures, which is cool. If XTB wanted to re-release Andras with new paint to this standard I'd definitely be in on that. As others have mentioned my only real minor gripe so far is the white shoulder joints. Also I'm going to have a look back through the thread but is there a way to get the shoulders past the backpack?

Yeah, just got mine too, I feel like XTB are stepping up their game this year. It looks great, love the big smiley TB face. I hope their Springer is as good as it looks

Yep, just pull the shoulders straight out. They're on a slider, which gives enough clearance.

Same here. Got mine yesterday and the first think you notice is the heft. He's a very solid bot. Transformation wasn't too difficult, the hardest time I had was figuring out how to properly fold the tires into the lower legs.

Does anyone have suggestions for removing the head without fear of breaking off the peg? I understand how it slides on/off, but the head is on tight. I'd really like the toy head it came with since that was the primary reason why I chose this product.

I think it's best to unscrew the face and leave the back pegged in.

I had the same issue with the legs and getting the back window untabbed to start the transformation but found it really intuitive otherwise.

I didn't think about that. The figure comes with a tiny screwdriver that probably serve this purpose perfectly. Thank you.

I was able to get a replacement set of the hands from XTB, and I color corrected them to go with my V1 figures.

Can anyone point out if mine was assembled/packaged incorrectly here? I received my Aegis cartoon version from BBTS and first I noticed they included 2 straight faces and left out the laughing face. Then I noticed they forgot the wave dish for his shoulder mount. And then I noticed all of his accessories, including his shoulder cannons, are all in silver here instead of white. Is this correct or is it either a huge screw up or some other version I wasn’t aware of??

The silver weapons means you got the limited edition version, did it have a sticker saying that on the box? But it sounds like you’re just missing the laughing face

Ahhh, I see that now; yes, it says "Very Limited Edition" on the box. so I am just missing the face and I assume his wave dish was supposed to come with him too, yes?
