@Dark Starscream I’m not sure if you’re into 3D printed accessories but on shapeways, you can get stuff that was designed specifically for this set. Like for example, skyjack’s head.

It's not easy to make that Prime mold look good as a combiner but you've done it. Also digging the way you combined Rook and Groove.

 

I did see those on shapeways, those are very cool! Maybe at some point down the road I might pick those up. I don't have much experience in painting these parts though. Also, some of the stuff I've gotten from shapeways has just been very bumpy looking and a very different texture from the smooth parts that they're fitting onto.

For example, I bought an arm cannon for Titans Return Megatron, which looked great in the picture online, but it was so grainy and unpolished that it just didn't look right.

What type of plastic should I be getting from shapeways?

 

I know the grain look you’re talking about. Smooth fine detail is pretty much what you want to get. This isn’t my picture but it’s a picture of a replacement piece I had commissioned for the pretender shells in potp. You can see how smooth fine detail looks next to official plastic. For paint I use oil based paint pens.

So for my Combiners I have:

Downsize Devastator (this guy is amazing value for the money btw)
UW Superior
Combiner Wars Bruticus
WJ Predaking (This guy is also amazing value for money)
Combiner Wars Computron
Abominus

I still need to get Menasor and Defensor but I have been wondering should I replace my Combiner Wars versions of Bruticus and Computron for the UR versions?

 

Combiner wars versus Unite warriors. depends on if you value OG toy accuracy or animation accuracy respectively. If it doesnt matter, UW has a bit better overall quality and paint applications. But whether which looks better depends on each character and your preference. For Example, I like the CW Mirage over UW simply for the colors and I prefer and the UW Breakneck over the CW. But thats my opinion.

 

I find most of the UW figures bland. Sunstreaker is a good example. Takara went with almost all yellow making him almost monochromatic.

 

Hey, does anyone know where I can pick up a cheap Dead End and Sunstreaker? I ask because neither has been KO'ed and I want them for a Roadceaser Custom.
