Say what you will about the upcoming fire scorpion ver. But its feet tidy up nicely in Altmode. When this is released we will have to see what transformation tricks could work I suppose.

is it me or are they doing this damaged/dirty look because its easier than to get a nice clean finish on such detailed geometry? lol still wish this thing were smaller but it looks so good.

As cool as this figure looks, does anyone else think he is over-priced?

I mean at $160-$175 @ShowZStore - that's probably the best price you're going to find upon release, but when I compare him to other figures in that same price range like the FT Arrow or Motormaster or TFC Rolling Thunder or FH Double Evil - I just feel a like as nice a figure as Freedom Leader is, he doesn't seem to come with as many 'extras' as some of the other figures in the same price range. There isn't a trailer included or a crazy base mode, etc. It's just another Optimus, cab-only figure that for sure looks awesome, but I think $100-$120 awesome, not $160-$175 awesome.

I'm not new to 3P and I know you gotta pay to play. He just seems a big pricey for what he is. AND considering that this mold will likely see nemesis, ultra magnus, shattered glass, and whatever more additional repaints out of it... Just seems to be a bit of a price gouge going on.

But maybe, if I step back and think about TW and their strategy with Constructor - it's not really a new play. They are just doing the same thing again...

    What do you guys think....?

TBh I was expecting a higher price point. I mean, he has a bunch of die-cast, paint, 4 guns, 4 plastic boxes/terrain, an ax, a stand, earth/Cybertron parts, and he’s around 12” tall. And for 15 bucks more in the deluxe ver. you get a stand that plays clips from the movie, has 4 articulated lights, and blast effects. That’s a fair amount of bang for your buck, and certainly more than most figures in the price range, especially FT releases.

Pretty sure the weathered stuff is more work. With normal paint, it's just spray and assemble. The weathered stuff requires more details by hand.

I just assumed weathered paint was Toyworlds thing, that's how their other movie releases are done. Still hoping the final painted version doesn't look as rough as that hand painted prototype, particularly the truck mode.

I'm one who thinks that 3P are overpriced in general but for a masterpiece grade figure of this size and complexity, $160 seems like a pretty damn good deal. I don't care much about extras and accessories so a $160 toy with just the figure and a gun is worth the same to me as the same figure with an assortment of guns and extras. That said, I did decide to go for the deluxe version in this case because it was such a reasonable price.

Is there a release date on this guy yet?
At this point, when it comes down to the 3A or this one, I'm getting whichever one comes out first.

So you think $160 is a fair price for Freedom Leader?

I guess where I see the disconnect is comparing him to any recently released original mold 3P figure like FT Blurr ($105), MMC Springer ($120), Generation Toy Ambulance ($88), or something like Magic Square or Transform Element Optimus Prime's for around $100ish each. Not saying that all those figures and Freedom Leader are made equal, but just comparing those to Freedom Leader, I have a hard time thinking that FL is 150%-200% better than these guys.

If you think it's a deal - no worries. Just wanted to provide some support for where I was coming from..

After all those posts.. I am of the mind that it is still expensive. 140 and 160 for the deluxe. So for me.. 20.00 over priced.

Yes but those figures are all much smaller. If you're going to compare to a FT figure, one of their Dinobots would be a better comparison than Blurr. Those guys went for $200 (though you can find them for as little as $160 sometimes if you're lucky). Freedom leader is bigger and yet less expensive than them. I can't comment on his build quality because I've never owned a Toyworld figure but if it's decent MP quality, then I'm fine with spending the same price that I did for FT Sovereign to get a figure that's 3 1/2 inches taller (making him close to half again the size/mass) that can pull off the transformation from a semi truck into the Prime from the movie that they clearly didn't design with a realistic transformation in mind (meaning the movie designers didn't design the character with a realistic Transformation in mind) and that has a look and articulation to nearly rival the 3A version (though I'm sure the final colored production version will still look like a toy next to 3A).

About the coloration, what we've seen is supposed to be what we get. This has been supported by both releases of bulldog and Bumblebee from their SS scaled line. They somehow keep that paint job very consistent. Not saying its better or worse than the 3A, but just thought I'd add that bit.
